Ion
I am in the midst of converting a Cataphractii praetor, and while he's quite clearly not your average terminator I feel like I should give him just a little more something beyond what he has at the moment. I have limited skills and tools for GS sculpting, so some extra ornamentation is not likely, but I thought it might be worth trying to model the digital weapons in some fashion. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for such an endeavour? Kierdale
Hmm... Something like a small barrel/weapon mounted on the back of a fist? Whatever thin pipe you can get your hands on. Guitar wire even, perhaps. Or model it as some kind of ring. Not sure if an Eldar spiritstone(?) would be too big...? SvenONE
Honestly these always struck me as some sort of futuristic brass knuckles only on each individual finger. It's something I feel that would be easier to represent from painting than modeling. I also pictured them as little laser beams on the fingers. Ion
There is a nice flat surface on the belt buckle that I could potentially try and fit a gem on, for a groin laser thing. Not sure where I could get something to fit though. Hands are tricky since I magnetised him at the wrists to let me change things around (mostly for aesthetics). Chaplain Lucifer
You could greenstuff a ring on a finger to represent a digi-werapons. It's a common appeareance on fiction. Grotsmasha
Perhaps a Bionic Eye could work as well as the above suggestions.....but I guess that would mean it would have to be the only bionic eye in your army (WYSIWYG consistency and all that). Do you have any spare Power Fists? You could cut that little power coupling thingy of the bottom of the fist and mount it on the forearm, that might work too. SW1
There is a nice flat surface on the belt buckle that I could potentially try and fit a gem on, for a groin laser thing. Sorry but that just had me in stitches. :) Digi weapons are meant to be hidden in plain site. So a ring or belt buckle or gargoyle on a shoulder pad or a bionic eye or well even a bionic finger. All could be classed as a digi weapon. They don't even need to be a laser. Could have a micro dart with some death world toxin or similar contraption. Forté
Digital weapons used to be noted as being the size of a ring. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294626-modelling-digital-weapons/#findComment-3765777 Share on other sites
JeffJedi
Get the smallest hole puncher you can find and punch out some thin plastic, glue that to the knuckles. That is pretty much what the Digi weapons look like on an old Inquisitor. Maybe add some wires. SW1
I'll try digging out my old lead TDA inquisitors as they have digi weapons if memory serves me right. Morningstar317
Wasn't Captain Dante of the Blood Angels made with digital weapons originally? There are tubes on the back of his left gauntlet to represent them, the've changed the description of it to dead mans fist (I think) since the mini was first released and i'm unsure of the rules for it now. Mostwanted
It was Captain Tycho that has Digital Weapons and they were mounted on his knuckles. I'm currently making my own version of him and have just finished his hand. I used Grandt Line Rivets 032'' Round Head 153 (purchased in the UK). I first marked out on the hand where I wanted them to go then used the point of a modelling knife to put a slight indent into where each rivet would go. Once in place I used the actual sprue that the rivet is attached to, to make the power cables. I just simply cut the thin rod to length and glued it in place. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r181/BrotherRafen/20140809_134344.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294626-modelling-digital-weapons/#findComment-3771446 Share on other sites
Ion
That's quite an interesting idea there Brother. Can never have too many rivets in a crusade/heresy era army, I might need to look into that.
