++Wulfebane's Tutorial on Magnetizing the Stormwolf/Stormfang++

So with most of GW's newer kits, you have options.. this unit, or that unit? Why not both? Here's how to magnetize the Storm Wolf-Claw. And below are the finished products (paint still WIP; will update when done).

Very happy to say that this chassis is fantastic, and indeed able to be magnetized. I wanted to keep it simple, so didn't pull out the plasticard or drills or anything. I decided I would never not run these without the lascannons, so I didn't bother magnetizing those options. The sponsons are a simple thing, so I didn't show them magnetized (but indeed they are!). The transport door on the front I just trimmed the pegs slightly so I could slide it on and off; no magnet needed. The back door is flippable and doesn't need magnets or glue, the fin will just hide inside the hull when in gunship mode. Below is the positions for the magnets I was able to make work. Enjoy.

The crossbar is provided by the kit. It's easily inserted and removed from the hull without needing glue or magnets. I glued a bit of sprue on the backside for the magnet I used to have a horizontal angle to rest on.

The top piece has two magnets, front and back. The back magnet will be attracted to the one in the following image.

Hope this helps.

Have a local tourney approaching and intend to use a few of these, so figured I owed it to the Fang to embrace the thread handed to me. First post updated with tourney-legal paint. Will finish it hopefully this month.

Great post thanks! I used it to magnatize mine.

One thing though, with the stand inserted it hits the rear fin if the back if the rear panel is faced inwards. I just glued mine with the fin pointing outwards and figure it could still lower as a ramp if needed. What was your solution to this issue?

I just ran into the same problem with my two storm grrrrs and am considering just taking a notch out of both flight stands.

Side note: I love that you call them Storm Grrrr's and will be adopting the moniker myself!!

End of Line

Sorted, worked a treat. Thanks for the guide. Only made one slight deviation, rather than magnetising the skull section of the main cannon it is possible to just glue this to the cannon. This leaves you with a gap so you can slide the cannon on to the side support bars.

Agreed. I opted not to do this for fear of scraping the paint.
