Alternative Logan Sled Model

Morning all,

As would be expected the chariot rules for logan have been leaked and make him pretty tasty in combat.

whilst i like the idea of him fighting and smashing heads from atop a grav vehicle, the sled hes pictured in is terrible.

I have been thinking that i would like him to be mounted on something and the only thing i have come up with for now is a landspeeder storm!!

If i can postion a model correctly, i would have him leaning forward ready to smash face!

What do you guys think?

are you planning on using something else?

Before we can get to converting, we need to hold that thing in our hands to see how it is build and what its dimensions are. The thing I can say for sure is that I will exchange the TWC with Screamers because I am going for a marine style ('marine' as in 'ocean').

If you are looking for a more realistic version, I suppose mechanizing it would be an option. You basically make some sort of flying mini base out of it like a mobile command center or the Speeder you mentioned.

As for me, I love the absurdity of it personally. Logan being a Lord of War, it really makes me think of Donar (or Thor, if you are living further to the north) riding into battle on his Chariot. I mean he is a living legend after all and now having a unique FOC slot for himself, anything but a sledge would be wildly inappropriate IMHO :D

Need to actually see the model in real life, as so far only jsut seen one photo, on which the angle aint great.

The one thing i would be looking to do so far though is putting the wolves more to the sides of the chariot, rather than at the front. In this way it'll hopefully look less like they are pulling it and more like they are just there to eat stuff (which is how id image it - why do you need wolves to pull a grav sled with engine) - in the one fluff picture ive seen of it too..the reigns on the wolves are actually slack, giving the impression they are simply running infront/alongside the sled - like taking a dog for a run whilst on a bike :D

Hey, maybe it wasn't an actual picture of Logan going to war, but rather Logan taking his pups out for a walk in his new weekend sledge which he uses on sunny days to get a nice tan.

Aight, here's my conversion idea: Logan sitting there like pimp master general, big sun screen umbrella, some guys mixing a nice drink and some slave girls. Like Jabba the Hutts party boat, only more awesome :D

Personally I don't mind the way he looks now, I was more worried they gave him a wheel or drag chariot but thankfully it is a grav platform, which would make the Wolves easier to pull and fight at the same time.

I hope the chariot has some electronic control panels inside to show that it doesn't entirely depend on the wolves for locomotion, which would give the wolves freedom to rip and tear. Also would make the chariot not so anacrhonastic, actually having some technology.

I love this new model and the idea of it, but if I was to convert it out of something else I would look for an actual viking long boat model kit. If I had more patience and time a Dark Eldar boat could make a great base for the conversion, size dependent, of course.

End of Line

Nadir hath the right of it, methinks.

::cough::

Sorry. Had some comic book in my throat, there.

Seriously, though, *if* I used a different model, I'd either go with "Asgardian magical tech," or do something with a speeder to look more like a chariot with an actual driver a la the "Tain bo Culaigne."

Since terminator armor is supposed to be originally designed to fight in the tight quarters of space ships, I would think the armor would have some sort of thrusters. You know just in case you got sucked out of the ship into space you would need them to get back. So I was thinking of building some sort of framework around his armor that allows for larger thrusters that can be used in atmosphere. The weight of the armor wouldn't allow him to be a high speed flyer or make jumps, just hover along the ground at slightly higher speed (that covers the hover/sled part). The frame and thrusters would be like extra armor (that would cover the armor stats for the sled). Then just like other Wolf Lords have Fen wolves that accompany them, Logan, being the Wolf Lord of Wolf Lords, would be accompanied by two thunderwolves.

That's the idea I have in my head anyway but like everyone else I'll have to see the model to know if I can pull it off.

I saw the "thing" just today and was just about as appaled as when I saw the Thunder Wolf Cav models. I dislike the idea of massive wolves riden by space marines and pulling a chariot is just worse. GW makes some really good models, but then they turn around and make some really bad ones too....

If I could ever get my rear moving on what I think Thunder Wolves should be (think pentient engine Space Wolf style or some what like that Grey Knight Dred where you see the guy, just smaller) then I could do something like Dwarf Shieldbearers from fantasy. To me it should of been something like Dwarf Shieldbearers to start with.

Your opinion dude. I seriously like the TWC and while I think the sled is absurd, I still like it. Nice model design and nice'n'cheesy. While I do not think the sled has a place in serious lore (depending on your suspension of disbelieve), I do think TWC do have a place and offer a very nice touch. I bet people wouldn't overreact about TWC if SW didn't have so much 'wolf' in them already.

Besides, it's the same thing every time.. Dreadknight, Helldrake, TWC, Centurions, you name it. And after a while people calm down and do their own thing again.

I just want to see this model.

I am still in shock over the concept.

I mean I know it is in line with Odin mythos and all that but darn, double darn.....

Immersturm: I am aware that it is my opinion, and I understand that a lot of people like TWC models. I too like what they bring, but I personally can't stand the idea of it in a sci fi setting. I debated this a long time ago with people when they came out, so wont really do it again. There are countless other things I really dislike in GWs range, not because of the rules, but because of what the models look like.

I haven't seen the rules for Logan's little parade float, but it is Logan so he has to be tough and I actually like how he looks on the thing, I just have an issue with: 1 somehting like a chariot in 40k and personally 2 the Thunder Wolves.

Well I am huge fan or animals and nature so it is obvious that I welcome the adition of TWC in the fluff. But hey, to each his own. I still think Centurions look silly :D

But back on topic. I had a thought on how to do my pimp mobile and here's what I will probably do:

Keep the TWC but connect them in a more traditional sense (actually give them reigns and such) as opposed to the way they are now.

The chariot itself will be turned into a hunting chariot. I will add weapon racks with bolters, spears and trophies.

It's basically a way to go hunting (be it a big game or enemies of mankind), taking inspiration from old germanic/norse hunting parties and Wodan himself.

Like Valhallan boats in tje Avengers2 movie? smile.png

I think it was Thor 2. After I saw that movie at the cinema last year I came on here and cheekily posted that I'd seen the new Space Wolf flyer as I thought there was a good chance of someone from GW going to the cinema and thinking "Aha!". After all, at Games Day Matt Ward told my friend that the Deep Striking Land Raiders in the Blood Angels codex were the result of him seeing the A-Team movie!
