New Codex, so when did Bloodclaws become 10 strong packs?

As far back as I can remember the Blood Claws enjoyed up to 15 strong packs.

But every single time I turn around GW is offering them in 10 strong packs.

Is the option for up to 15 being retained or dropped as drop pods only carry 10.

The BC always enjoyed having overwhelming numbers of attacks because their packs were so large.  Without the extra five BC's I worry that they will lose that edge.

I am thinking of customizing one of the Forgeworld Dreadnaught Drop Pods to hold 15 so that I can put in full strength BC packs from them.  Think three SW per door as opposed to two.  Thoughts?

Drink up my Brothers, its gonna be a long fight!

In the Rumors we have heard that Bloodclaws can be 15 man packs still or even a possible 20 man unit i read in one of the rumors but they are only sold in boxes of 10 so thats probably where the 10 man rumor comes from.

Codex unit size does not necessarily dictate how GW packages their product. Considering the new flyer transport (Storm Wolf??) has a transport capacity of 16, I'd bank on Blood Claws still being 15 strong.

Cheers,

Jono

Well, then my Bloodclaw Pack Drop Pod looks like a good idea. Now let me find that lazy Iron Priest of mine.....

I had not heard about the packs increasing in size, Ulfborn Grimclaw. Where did you get that?

The only issue with that is that a drop pod has a transport capacity of 10. Sure you could model one to hold 15 blood claws, but the rules say you can only put 10 inside.

I am aware of that, that is why I am looking at the Forgeworld Dreadnaught Drop Pod for it.  It is A LOT bigger.  So with a little creative cutting and glue and such I think this might work.  Of course at OFFICIAL tourneys it won't fly, but at local, friendly events it should be okay.  Not only that but a lot of people would probably jump on the "COOL" bandwagon.

Take the FW Pod, and the seating from the GW Pod, add an additional one in the middle and BINGO!  Allow me to introduce you to 15 of my little friends!

I had read the 20 man rumor somewhere in the past 2 weeks, but it was only just a rumor, so as most rumors go probably false. If i can find the actual source ill link to it.

on one of the rumor sites it listed this entry:

"Bloodclaws are 13 points per model, minimum 5 up to 20.  Similar as above for upgrades.  Unlike what's in stormclaw, if you upgrade a Bloodclaw to a Wolf Guard he gets +1 WS and BS (to take him to 4/4). "

Just making sure you weren't under the impression that it was officially useable with that transport capacity.

If your gaming group is cool with it then go for it. It sounds like an awesome conversion.

Yeah, as with most things of Wolfy goodness GW finds the need to take a Nerf bat to em, but I think that conversion would come off rather well and it would fill a nitch for us Space Wolves.

I am up for ideas as to what to name it. Blood Claw Drop Pod sounds too dry, it would be okay if it was for the Ultramarines, but I played those guys for a while and most of the time my Assault Marines never made it to the fight, and that was with Jump Packs.

My Blood Claws always seem to get stuck in but good. Especially when I put them just behind a line of Grey Hunters or in support of Long Fangs. Go ahead and assault us, I dares ya! The ole bait and hammer I call it. msn-wink.gif

Why not consider (rules wise, your conversion sounds cool) using these rules from FW?

Oh man, not only does it have room for up to twenty models, it would be table legal in just about every case.....

And I wouldn't have to mod nothing.

Well, that kinda ruins my fun. Unless I act like a true Space Wolf and do it anyway just for the sake of trying to tick off the Inquistion. That is always fun for a few laughs!

Or I could take your advice and use those rules and just say tongue.png to anyone who don't like it.

So loving this idea.
