Inquisitor Kravin
With the 7th edition rules now a bit more familiar and a fair bit known about the new codex, how do you anticipate getting Logan/your Wolf Lord into close combat? Stormrider - fast, cheap, durable but only really synergises with Thunderwolves or maybe Swiftclaws. Stormwolf - it's fast, it's got good firepower and it looks like someone dropped a giant brick from orbit, which if you're a son of Fenris is a positive trait. However it has to start in reserves so it's probably going to be at least turn 3 if not turn 4 before your Wolf Lord arrives. Land Raider - it's not as fast as the Stormwolf but it can start on table and has heavier armour. Rhino - not an option for Logan but a lord in Runic Armour can ride with his Grey Hunters or power armoured Wolf Guard and the points saved mean that you can get more "Metal Bawkses" to run interference. Travel inconspicuously and accompany a mass of infantry. Thunder Wolf - again, not an option for Logan but it's fast and brutal. Footslogging Wave - use the points you would spend on transport to buy lots of bodies and charge forward, boots on the ground. Patient Hunter - your enemies usually go assault heavy so simply deploy on a central objective and let them come. Drop Pod - cheap and fast, plunge screaming through the sky like a comet and leap straight into the fray, to Hel with the odds! Bike - Codex marines love it, but did you join the Sons of Fenris only to fight like a White Scar? Jump Pack - join a big pack of Skyclaws and swarm the enemy. If as it appears, Logan has lost High King and Living Legend, has been moved to LoW and no longer makes Wolf Guard troops I may look at a different Wolf Lord. For Logan I'm tempted to stick with a Land Raider Crusader and squad of Wolf Guard Terminators. For another lord I'd be tempted to try the Thunder Wolf or even the Bike. Frater Cornelius
You can always slingshot Logan into combat with Fenrisian Wolves or TWC. Nadir
Doesn't flyers came in the seckond turn obligatory? Or it is only when they will left the board at the previous turn? Turn 4+ all reserves arrive automatically. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
1. Stormrider - This new transport has me all willy-nilly. The look and feel of it are so unique and fluffy, I can not pass it up!! 2. Stormfang - I can pack TDAWG into it and deliver them into battle when I want (unlike a drop pod). The tactical possibilities for this flyer are a great improvement over the rather static pod ( which I still really love ). 3. Thunderwolf Mount - Again, the vision of a mighty warrior riding into battle atop a ferocious beast is far too exciting for me to pass this one up!! As it stands, it seems like we are getting more tools to bring back that ancient thing called 'close combat'. This is what we're about, is it not??!! So having an assault flyer added to an already fairly resilient and tactically ambiguous force may just be what the meta is needing. A swift, hard punch to the face. Frater Cornelius
LOOOOOGAN PUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH! *Grimnar flies out of the Stormwolf with a wolf-shaped flame on his fist* But in seriousness, I agree. Assault flyers. Land Raiders. Ultragrit tacticals which will hopefully keep some incarnation of Mark of the Wulfen and the Wolf Standard. TWC. TW Lords. Fenrisian Wolves. Chariots. Warlord Trait for challenges. Wargear for challenges and general melee bonuses. Oh my! Spacefrisian
Go for Landraider, as you can give that one objectiv secured through Wolfguard.
