Ragnars Claw
I've heard that our transports are now fast attack choices? If that is true does it make us the only army in the game where our troops ride around in transports which don't have objective secured? :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294793-no-objective-secured-transports-for-us/ Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Whut? Rhinos, Razors and Pods are dedicated transports which can be OS, Stormwolf is an option for troops AFAIK. You have the option to buy a Stormwolf in FA and Stormfang in HS but that's a completely different thing. Ragnars Claw
I was under the impression rhinos, razorbacks and pods are now listed under fast attack? tvih
I was under the impression rhinos, razorbacks and pods are now listed under fast attack?Erm... why would they be? They can't be taken separately, they are always dedicated transports, and as such act as having been taken from whatever FOC slot the unit they're taken with is from. So take 'em for Troops choices and there you go. wookieman
Razorbacks and drop pods are listed under fast attack. This is mentioned on Bell of Lost Souls Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294793-no-objective-secured-transports-for-us/#findComment-3769918 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Possibly as an option to buy them separately to do allies shenanigans. As long as there is an option to buy them as dedicated you will have your OS. Besides, Rhinos ftw... Ozeryk_Sleipnijr
If you use the Combined Armed Detachment the stormwolf, rhino, landraiders & Razorbacks become standard, thus they are Objective Secured in the CAD. Fray
It has been confirmed that you can still purchase transports as upgrades for the particular squad, thereby giving them OS if you're using the CAD. SonOfThunder
Nothing becomes standard Dedicated transports are considered of the same type as the unit they were bought for. If you buy it for a troop unit, they are troop. If the detachment rules have objective secured (CAD or Ally), then the transport has it, since it's a troop choice. But this is only if you purchase it as a dedicated transport, and this option must be listed in the unit entry. Having the razorback or pod listed separately means they can be bought without unit, and then they are fast attack. The same way you can buy LRs as heavy support. Buying a drop pod without being dedicated is very weird though, as has been mentioned before this means you could embark battle brother allied units in it, for instance an inquisitor with retinue or a AM veteran squad...ogryns even?. I'm thinking there'll be some restrictions to those transports to prevent weird drop pod combinations, but who knows. We'll find out soon enough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294793-no-objective-secured-transports-for-us/#findComment-3769963 Share on other sites
tvih
Seriously though if you can buy them separately... man, in an unbound list you could do some crazy stuff. 52 Rhinos in a 1850-point list, anyone? Inquisitor Kravin
Don't! I remember in 2nd edition someone pointing out that Rhinos were the same price as Space Marine Bikers and both had twin linked bolters, so he used Rhinos instead!I like the idea of a Drop Pod for a Lone Wolf. logun
imperial guard allied special weapons teams are pretty cheap and expendable. can now buy them a cheap transport. tvih
I must admit that if SW can indeed buy them separately, I'm a touch jealous As far as buying the for IG SW teams, I'm not sure why bother. Chimera isn't that expensive, and brings more firepower of its own. Unless of course it's an issue with having excess Rhinos and fast attack slots (or being Unbound) and not having Chimera models. Or something. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294793-no-objective-secured-transports-for-us/#findComment-3770453 Share on other sites
Gideon999
We can indeed buy them separately. And as dedicated transport. Verified, I have codex in hand. So ObSec transports are in, as are fast attack drop pods for your allied centurions with tiggy. :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294793-no-objective-secured-transports-for-us/#findComment-3770539 Share on other sites
