We are the red shirts

I had a random thought that explained a lot.  Blood Angels are the Red shirts of 40k.  That's why  the Sanguinar died in the battle with Hourus and why we have feel no pain so we can take hits for the rest on the empire.

Isn't the redshirt reference from the old Star Trek with Kirk et. al.? TNG used different uniform colors IIRC. I think in TNG the sacrificial lambs would be the yellow shirts (see Tasha Yar)

I guess 40k uses the system from Star Trek TNG because imperial fists die in droves. Would also explain why lamenters have terrible luck :p
