New Codex, New Gaffs

Forge world seems to be directly contradicting the material from Codex Space Wolves.

Problem is, if you aren't going to believe the Codex Space Wolves in that Ragnar's Coy is 2nd largest and 187 strong, how can we believe anything in the Codex? ;)

Anyway, do we have direct background material of the amount of SW personnel on the fleet, Iron Priests etc? I'm getting interested in this though perhaps we should use a new thread?

Here's a gaff for you. So I tried to order the Wolf Guard Ed, got it was out of stock(ordered it online). So,crap. The one time I actually wantd GW to take my money & they wouldn't. So this past Saturday I go up to my local Hobby Shop & pick up a regular codex & preorder the Champions Of Fenris. Good to go. Fool me I! I get home from work today to find a Fed Ex notice that they tried to deliver a package. So, without a clue I went down to pick it up wondering what it could be. Low & behold it's from GW. The silly %^&&*^$$%%^ have sent me a Wolf Guard Ed. box set.

Now I know why I support my local hobby store. I immediately phone up to them & see if it's to late to cancel the preorder of Champions of Fenris telling them I'll put the credit towards something else. they don't have to do it. It's not their fault & I paid in full when I preorder(they knock 15% off that way). Not only do they say no problem & they even refund me in cash, they go the next step & offer to give me store credit for the regular codex they just sold me. GW, you should pay attention.

Well its a good thing this game covers 10,000 years of history so you can near pick any reasonable number you want to be fair. There may have been a point, post heresy when the ships may have been a lot fuller and obviously times when they weren't.

Also it is mentioned that iron priests etc arent included in Grimnars company and are essentially another one on top of that so 2600 may not be wrong regardless of how real M2 C is getting up in here

Ragnar's GC on that day in that year of M41 had that number of Wolves.

The next day, one of the spare strike cruisers could've arrived with thirty Blood Claws.

Pre-900M41, Bran may have had a bigger company. Now, Ragnar is apparently #2 behind Logan at 188.

And they're still pulling aspirants in off the ice.

My point: Especially with the Rout, these numbers are like to seriously fluctuate. I think we can all agree that even at the uppermost estimates, you'd be looking at 2400 Wolves, and you wouldn't be looking at them for long, as a good chunk of those would be Blood Claws and soon shuffled off to Morkai.

As for the fleet, I think we've established that while it's an eyebrow-raising number, it's feasible. And the "generations of kaerls" explains crew and servants in the Fang.

I'd also remind folks that while Logan's company may be the largest, it also includes the priests and dreadnoughts. Now, whether Logan's company outsizes Ragnar's before or after you add in the priesthoods and dreadnoughts is, I think, open to conjecture. But, if Logan's company itself is larger than Ragnar's, without adding in the priests and dreads, then Logan's company could easily rise above the 250 mark.

I'm not saying I believe this. I'm just saying it's possible. So, please: don't anyone take offense.

Here's another gaff: wolf scouts need to swap their bolter to get a CCW, they also need to swap their bolter to get a plasma pistol, so the only legit build for a scout with a plasma pistol is as a gunslinger.

Not an unhappy situation, but considering EVERY example wolf scout with plasma pistol GW has shown us has them with a CCW, I'd call it a gaff.

Wolf scouts, now trained by Cypher.

Well, now I know why I was confused by the discussion between the stormfang and the stormwolf.

In the armoury the hellfrost destructor has ap 3, in the reference page it has ap 2.

Seriously GW? Is it to much to ask for a decent proofreading of the stuff you publish?

Apparently the enhanced eBook lists the transport capacity of a land raider redeemer as 16; the paper codex has the usual capacity of 12.

So buy the ebook and go by that. After all GW did put it outtongue.png, let them figure out how to fix it.

But seriously, I can hardly wait to get my hands on the Codex now. I always love it when they chart out the individual Great Companies. Especially if it names characters.

Problem is, if you aren't going to believe the Codex Space Wolves in that Ragnar's Coy is 2nd largest and 187 strong, how can we believe anything in the Codex? msn-wink.gif

Except the line about Ragnar's company being the second largest isn't in this version of the codex. So we can have a free for all with company size biggrin.png .

Eh, an average great company size of 160, 250 in Logan's, 60 Iron Priests, 30 of the other two disciplines, 50 Dreadnoughts, and say two to three hundred manning the chapter's vehicles gives us about 2400 marines, which is reasonable. Bigger than a normal chapter, but not so many marines in one place under one banner the high lords are afraid we're building a legion.
