Why SW players like outflank so much?

I have been playing SW for about 2 years now and the only real use i had for outflank was for scout squads (before the nerf).when you use outflank the unit arrives turn 2+ and then it has to wait for a turn before making an assault.besides using it to deliver a squad with meltas or plasmas to an opponent's flank (which can be done far better by using a drop pod) what any other real, competitive use is there for outflank?i can't see how it can be usefull for thunderwolves as they wont get shot turn 1 but they will charge turn 3 at best, maybe later.in most of the games i play (and i always bring a full squad with a big bad HQ) they manage to get in CC by turn 2, and casualties aren't serious, except when faced with tau, but then again who can get unharmed through their firepower...So, fellow wolf players, anything i have missed about outflank usefullness?or am i right?

I struggled alot with outflank for awhile because of the reasons you mentioned. That said shooty squads with it like Valerian's can be really impressive, and the threat of them restricts your opponents movement. Its also worth pointing that any alternative deploment ability tends to be good because it increases the flexibility of your list.

Even with it being used as a scare tactic in general it removes chunks of your army from the table and most lists with good shooting with pound those weakness bad! Less targets for them to shoot so they kill your other utility units (ex.Long Fangs)

For me a good opponent would be targetting those units the first couple of turns anyway...

but aye, I had a unit i loved to outflank, which had 2 plasma guns, a wulfen, a WGPL with motw and 2 p.pistols, and a wolf priest with p.pistol - the unit was ace at shooting the turn it arrived (7 plasma!) and then needed to be dealt with before it assaulted. Being able to come in from either table edge made it a nce thing for an opponent to have to worry about throughout the game...also gives you an easy 'linebreaker'.

but yeah, the good thing about getting the new 'bonus outflank', is that you could get it across multiple units. But, if your opponent deploys first, you dont have to use it - despite the fact they may still deploy with the idea in mind that you will be outflanking 2-3 units...
