Frost swords can now be diamond, axes can be kraken teeth

Anyone else catch this? Last edition they stated explicitly that frost swords were always kraken-teeth chainswords and frost axe blades were made from energized diamond.

This edition they changed it to make it more open-ended - stating "Whether it is made from the razor-sharp fangs of an ice kraken or a glacial shard of energised diamond, the bite of a frost blade can...etc." To confirm their intentions, the codex even has a neat icicle-looking frost sword illustration (which I suspect is also the relic Fangsword) serving as a paragraph divider. Of course, there is also Murderfang's claws.

It also opens the door to model you frost-axes with chainaxes and also make your swords look like blades of ice.

This is a really minor change, but one I really welcome. As someone who is always heavily persuaded from venturing outside the constraints of the fluff (an obsessive compulsive quirk, I'm sure), I hate being rail-road'd down one avenue creativity and appreciate them opening it up.

Dunno, but I intend to buy some clear styrene sheets and canopy glue as soon as my budget allows (gahhh too many things on the wish list... FW iron hands immortals for DIY iron priests and shieldbrothers, I am looking at you)
In the 3rd edition Codex, there was also description of Frost Blades being made from synthetic diamond or being chain weapons that used kraken teeth. Ragnar's sword Frostfang was originally the template for Frost Blades using teeth, which is interesting because the new fluff mentions it's teeth being made from a "lost metal" developed by a long-dead Iron Priest. Seems a meaningless Retcon to me, and it actually bugged me when I spotted it.

I don't recall this.

There was a big kerfuffle when 5th came out, with some people really upset that frost weapons were no longer exclusively chain weapons.

...Also this isn't in my digital codex. Frostfang's description is this: "The diamond hard kraken teeth of this legendary frost sword can chew through even the heaviest armour with consummate ease to leave only ruin in their wake."
