sunspear
Are they armed with a bolter/ bolter and cc wpn or bolt pistol/cc wpn? I plan on paying the extra points for the additional wpn but, (kinda like chaos marines) not sure how to model them. I thought about using the bolter for the GH and using the bolt pistol and chainsword for the BC. Valor
Squads with no CCW are bolter/pistol, no two handed bolters for Space Wolves! Squads with CCW are bolter/CCW. I think you can get by WYSIWYG for the CCW upgrade if everything in the unit is modeled the same, and since pistols are stock gear the "upgrade" to CCW is modeled. My blood claws are a mix of pistol/chainswords and pistols/pistols. d@n
I always mix the tactical marine kit with the grey hunter kit. Gives you a lot more modelling options and also far quicker to paint Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294977-how-do-you-model-your-grey-hunters/#findComment-3773554 Share on other sites
DanPesci
Gonna have to go back through a lot of my hunter squads and decide how to model them regarding the new 14pt/16pt loadout option. For the most part, i think im gonna leave mine at just bolter/bp, whichll probably mean a lot of arm swapping, as i have a load of guys with chainswords as well. I would say for wysiwyg purposes, a bolter with either a bp holster or bolt pistol in the other arm is fine. To add the ccw, just adding a knife sheath etc should be sufficient, although a more obviosu chainsword would probably be easier for an opponent to keep track - especially if you are taking squads where not everyone is taking the second ccw Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294977-how-do-you-model-your-grey-hunters/#findComment-3774281 Share on other sites
skeletoro
I think I will magnetize scabbarded chainswords, for the most part. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294977-how-do-you-model-your-grey-hunters/#findComment-3774333 Share on other sites
Twipp
Honestly.. I just dont care. I have 30-40 fully painted hunters here, some with bolters others with pistol and CCW. I am not going to pay that 2 points extra all the time for all my hunters. And if someone starts to whine about that matter, then I give him taste of my own power fist. Wraithwing
I model my Grey Hunters with bolt guns, holstered bolt pistols and CCWs, either as chainswords, or the combat knives in sheathes. Like so: I find this way, they look all tooled up, and ready for anything! tauyippiejoy
This is the one change that I really feel is messing me up. I've got close to 50 grey hunters with painted squad markings so I always know which guy belongs to which squad and each squad has members who have only bolters or more usually a combination of bolters and ccw. The work needed to get each one WYSIWYG-legal are really putting me off. I play friendly games and have considered just paying the 2pts for each grey hunter no matter what and say that they are armed in a similar manner up front. Should make it easy enough to keep track on but I've prided myself on only fielding fully painted WYSIWYG models so yeah.. Vykryl
Since I'm haven't painted my troops yet I'm all right. Thinking of cutting chainswords off and replace with grenade hands. Probably do this with my plasma squad, as they're supposed to be more shooty. Not sure what I will do with my melta squad yet. Planning on turning my flamer squad into Blood Claws Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294977-how-do-you-model-your-grey-hunters/#findComment-3774532 Share on other sites

If you're playing friendly games then im sure WYSIWYG wont matter too much...the only issue would be if you had mixed 'has CCW' and 'plain hunter' guys in one squad, it make it annoying to remember which is which after you lose guys... For friendly games, what id probably do for simplicity (rather than change 50+ models) is to just take squads so the whole squad has the CCW upgrade, or the whole squad doesnt....models be damned...id prefer to play a game with some ace looking models rather than worrying about them being exactly right, especially for base troops Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294977-how-do-you-model-your-grey-hunters/#findComment-3774539 Share on other sites
