Primarch or Wolf Lord?

Earlier this year I purchased this stunning model from fellow forum member Dechande

Now I need to paint him but I also need to decide how to use him in game. I know he is meant to be Truescale and I saw the comparison pic in the thread above but I'm still astonished by the sheer size of this brute when I stand him next to a couple of terminators.

Do you think I can get away with making him a DIY Wolf Lord or should I put him away safe until FW eventually do rules for Leman Russ? If I go custom Wolf Lord I'll make his size a key element of his fluff. I'm thinking of naming him Hruodbert Jotunblod (Giantsblood).

In the pieces provided he has an axe and a sword but I've not attached them yet as I'm keeping my options open. I hadn't thought of a counts as Dread, it just feels weird proxying a character as a vehicle. I could give him axe and shield or assault cannon and a big close combat weapon.

I'd been trying to think of a suitably powerful character to ally in. Thanks.

Meh, nothing wrong with just using him as a normal Wolf Lord. Dont think about it so hard! We don't get monsters and giants to be army centerpieces, tanks and dreads sure, but sometimes i just want a badass hero as the center of my army! Who does it hurt if he is a little larger to draw attention, as long as it fits the rules. Back when the 13th were around i was building a Wulfen Lord that would be about the same size.

Man i miss the 13th.

I had considered a Thunderwolf mount to reflect the increased power but I couldn't explain the speed. Maybe despite his size he's not actually a Wolf Lord because he's viewed with suspicion as he moves unnaturally fast - some kind of innate unconscious biomancy type power?

I'd probably go with Wolf Lord for the simple case of when Forgeworld does release a Leman Russ model, it'll be gorgeous. There's already precedent for Space Wolves being rather big guys (i.e. Ranulf the Strong, whom it's said almost rivaled Russ himself in size). So anyone who calls you on it doesn't no Space Wolves fluff and must be educated tongue.png.
