Do the Primarch models have separate head pieces?

I always did think that it was a bit odd that despite the need for "dramatic effect," there was no option for the so-far-released primarchs to be wearing helmets and be "all business."  About the only Horus Heresy character I know of who has the option to go without or with a helmet is Calas Typhon.

I remember seeing Vulkan's sweet primarch helmet on a HH novel cover.  It'd be nice if FW gave us an option to use it.

Khârn has the option to have a helm or not. Before their fb page was taken down there was some talk of possibly giving the primarch options to have helms.

Thanks for the reminder.  It's too bad we can't comment on FW's social media pages or their youtube vids anymore, so I'm at a loss as to how make it known to them that a lot of their customers would like to see the option for Primarch Helmets, short of a bunch of us showing up to a FW convention (like FW Open Day) and telling their designers in person.  Maybe e-mail could work?

You get to see what should be Vulkan's Primarch helmet on the cover of the HH novella Scorched Earth. It's a pretty sweet design, and I'd like to know what kind of helmet designs the FW could come up with.

Some of us like a bit of realism in our modelling as well.  As Ferrus Manus proved, even non-Daemon Primarchs cannot survive decapitation (or perhaps even a well-aimed headshot).  To look at it from a "realistic" perspective, why wouldn't they wear helmets for the protection they provide?  Even a forcefield surrounding one's head area can't provide air to breathe, which is why Guilliman being vented into space during the Battle of Calth was such a dangerous situation to him.

Is there any fluff resources that mention the Primarchs wearing helms? Seems even in literature they seem bare headed

Besides the aforementioned Vulkan helmet artwork, there have been some mentions of Primarchs wearing helmets. IIRC in Fulgrim it talks about Curze wearing a skull plated helm and Fulgrim himself wearing an eagle style helmet.

Also it's only practical that they have helmets for Void warfare. In Know No Fear when Guilliman is in a vacuum his sons mention in amazement that he was able to survive (and fight) that long without a helmet.

even in the novel Fulgrim, when they enter that system with beautiful pristine untouched planets, Tarvitz  thinks that his fellow captains were slightly out of line by taken their helmets off before their Primarch Fulgrim did, suggesting that he did wear a helmet. Also doesnt the El Jonson have the Lion helm that he wears?

How was it handwaved that he survived that long again?

It would make more sense if Gulliman took some of the floating corpses around and stole a few breaths through their air supplies (some of them are decapitated, after all, and their air supplies must at least go to their heads.  Of course, you'd think that after that incident he'd be in his full armour with helmet (along with the Gauntlets of Ultramar) at all times, but that doesn't appear to be the case since according to those who have read the books he's still ambushed by Alpha Legionnaires without all his equipment later.

Isn't one of the organs provided by a Space Marine's gene-seed supposed to protect them against the effects of vacuum exposure (with the exception of the total lack of oxygen) too?  Last I heard though, this isn't emulated in RPGs like Deathwatch for some reason.
