Valor
I just finished basing a large batch of my Space Wolves and am rather happy with how they turned out! Wanted to share with my fellow Wolf Brethren. Questions/Comments welcome! Sorry if the picture quality is not the greatest. Valor
Thank you. 50/50 mix of baking soda and Elmer's glue, then a bit more baking soda on top after it's painted. My "rocks" turned out really well from cork board, but you can't see them to well in the picture. Next step is details on the armor and weapons, then paint and pop the heads on! Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I tried that technique and found over time the snow turned yellow from the glue. I thing I was using a lot of glue and a little baking soda however. I like this look a lot!! Did you try sprinkling a little bit of white flocking on top to give a little more texture?? End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295103-snow-bases/#findComment-3775967 Share on other sites

End of Line This happened to me also. It's the oxidation of the yeast in bicarb reacting to the moisture in the woodglue. If you seal it with clear varnish (I found the satin varnish works best, doesnt dull and doesnt leave it too "wet" looking), it stops the yellow over time. Valor
Thank you both! I will definitely do that. I've tried sealers in the past though and have had them turn out cloudy looking, fairly certain that was operator error though lol. Z00Z
But the snow... the snow looks really good. I like that it feels tectured. That's the problem I've had with mine, some come out looking a little too much like ice. On the colour issue, after a year, still no colour change, so i'm quite happy. http://i.imgur.com/q3ZCt9b.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295103-snow-bases/#findComment-3776233 Share on other sites

opheimvikes
I like to use the snow paste that they have at craft stores for christmas figs. It's very spreadable and no mixing involved.
