Here's the start I've made on my Bjorn model. The extra arms from this kit will give a forge world dred a great axe & shield soon.

Base color is Adeptus Grey air brushed on with highlights in Fenrusian Grey & Vallejo Air RLM 76. The gold is based in Vallejo old gold from their alcohol based line.

Thanks for looking & more to come.

really enjoy using valejo old gold too. Did you highlight silver on top after?

I did. I washed it with Agrax Earthshade first. Then I mixed some Mithril Silver (yes, I still have some!) and some Vallejo acrylic gold and made a highlight to go on top. The picture came out dark, but it looks really good and that beautiful raised details just pops out.

Valejo alcohol mettalics are one of the best on the market right now. True metal and beautifull shades... biggrin.png

I agree. I need to collect all of them.

I'm getting there.  I need to redo the AC as it had glaring seams.  A little Vallejo white putty will fix the trick.  Painted the pelts last night.  Airbrushed them Tamiya deck tan & Vallejo German Black Brown.  The base is decorated with concrete bits from Gale Force 9.  I need another tub of the stuff if they still make it.

I hope to finish him soon as my work schedule permits.

Impressive model! I hope you magnetized that assault cannon, though- BS 6 is perfect for Helfrost Cannons and Plasma cannons, since it reduces the average scatter of the template to, well, nearly nothing (Remember, BS 6 means you re-roll gets hot rolls, so the plasma cannon only overheats one every thirty six times)

I did not magnetize it, but it is a very simple mod to allow the 'gun' portion to slip out and be replaced.

Just snip the portion painted black on the Helfrost and crudely drawn to on the back of the gun an it will snugly slide in and out.

Once the parts have a good layer of dullcoat on them, I won't be too worried about messing up the paint job.

Good to see more pics of the new Bjorn. I kinda liked the non-blingy nature of the old one, but I guess it's too late to get it now. The new one's quite nice too, but I think the part that bothers me the most is the borders of the sarcophagus cover. Much too wide for my liking.

But my musings on the model kit aside, you seem to be doing a great job with the painting. I hope I can get mine to look even half as good once I acquire the model.

How did you get that awesome blue on the claw? That looks perfect for frost weapons?

Excellent job mate.

Thank you.  It was much simpler than I planned on it being, but doesn't that always work best?

I started with a drybrush of  Vallejo Model Color Light Blue over the black based claws.  Then, I over coated it with a mix of the light blue with a dash of white in several very thin coats to smooth it out.  Once I had a nice solid base, I applied several very thin layers of Baharroth Blue till I liked the color.  A wash of Guilliman Blue, another thin layer of Baharroth, and a final light edge of white.

Simple you ask?  Truth is I just messed around with it till I was happy!  But hose are the only colors I used.  I'm not sure the Guilliman blue helped, but the Baharroth Blue is great for ice weapons.  I'm going to try airbrushing it over a white base coat on an axe here soon to see what I can do with it...
