This smacks of another badly worded rule I questioned about Falchions. laugh.png

Not dragging that one up again, I really should learn to not start an army that is at war with itself. msn-wink.gif

Any hoo, it will all get sorted with our new Codex in a few weeks.

Falchions were actually FAQ'd though, so that issue has been resolved. However, as you say, new codex may re-open that can of worms.

On another note, I have read the rumours that we will be able to create Grand Masters with many varied and powerful abilities to act as our old "missing" Characters could. I just hope there will be a Relic that will allow my GM to DS in with his 10 Termie squad. Oh and I think I will be dropping the Inquisitor and trying to squeeze in a DreadKnight with Sword.

Yeah, I saw the same rumours. All our non-modelled characters are gone :( kinda lame TBH. Maybe the relics will be useful though...

Thanks for the help guys. It has helped to sort it out in my head and as I am going to do with the Falchion thing, until sorted in the new codex, go with the argument I most strongly back up with the evidence as written.

No worries man. New codex will be out soon anyway, hopefully it clarifies some of these issues leftover from 5th edition.

It was answered in one of the old 6th edition FAQs.  GW helpfully deleted it when they updated the FAQ to 7th edition.

The old answer being that Falchions are effectively a single weapon that grants +1 Attack, as opposed to two melee weapons that also grant +1 Attack (for +2 Attacks in total).

Seeing as a new codex is coming, we'll see if they word their rules any differently this time around.

If you notice in the new leaked images of the army builder, it specifies two nemesis falchions which will alleviate the confusion.

I would imagine some might still argue the contrary dispite the overwhelming lack of evidence that buying two weapons at the same time doesnt constitutes two weapons.

It would be nice to have at least one codex in the WH40K universe that is straight, to the point and not murky in any way shape or form. But they got it wrong with the BRB so I do not hold out much hope.

In other words, a unicorn ;) none of the codicies are straightforward, every one of them is replete with loopholes, weird interactions and messy wording. It's because GW refuse to take game design seriously, and instead approach every new edition with 'oh but that would be so cool, lets do that!' and never playtest/think through the consequences.

I predict that the falchions will no longer have any special attack bonus rules, just the regular 'you get an extra attack with 2 cc weapons rule'.

Because the leaked images States "2" falchions. And you can buy lighting claws in "pairs" as a 'single' upgrade cost.

As pair is EXACTLY the same meaning as 2 it means that this whole argument will still be very much alive unless they specifically note that you don't get +2 attacks, or they just remove the falchions ability. They're only 4pts now, which is well worth just the 1 extra attack :-P
