Valor
Has any one actually used him in a game yet? Not looking for mathhammer results, looking for real game experience with him. Can anyone share? Temper
I doubt many of us have played with him yet. You should look over at the blood angels forum to see how they play with their Death Company Dreads, as they have a lot in common with Murderfang (both being a AV12 WS5 Walker that can turn pretty much everything to fine red mist) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295117-murderfang/#findComment-3776249 Share on other sites
Wispy
I'm planning an army list with him but haven't had a chance to test it. I think the key is to have target saturation - lots of individual targets.  Using the Wolves Unleashed detachment, I'm Drop podding him, Bjorn, a Shield-Venerable, two land speeders, with outflanking Thunderwolf cavalry, a storm wolf and grey hunters. Grimtooth
I want to see what GW does with Bran before I think about building MF. AND that is what I will be calling him, MF. Glasswalker
I used him the other day, I dropped him in behind some ruins and due to some good rolling by my sons weird boy and some poor rolling by me, he exploded before doing anything but snarling at a mob of ork boys...doh But my TWC performed brilliantly and won me the day! Rune Priest Jbickb
I ran him and found that he seems to work better in the second round of pods. Got popped right away in the first game when I dropped him first, second game he went in the second round and killed a chaos termi squad and a squad of plague marines. Got popped right away in the first game when I dropped him first, second game he went in the second round and killed a chaos termi squad and a squad of plague marines.  I was going to recommend also that he, or any other Dreads, come in on the second round of Pods.  Give your early entry Hunters a chance to secure the LZ.  V Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295117-murderfang/#findComment-3776730 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
Val, Â With the Wolves Unleashed you could take you two compulsory HQ and attach one to a unit of Hunters in theit dedicated transport and then the other on a TWM to the TWC and then outflank them. Â But the Hunters would only get to Outflank on a 4+ (50/50, so not bad odds) whereas the TWC are only coming in via Outflank on a 6 (not great odds at all). Â Neither are good enough odds to form your battle plan around, in my mind. Interesting, I figured turn 1 pod was a must so he could get a turn 2 charge. Thanks for pointing that out. Turn 2 should work out pretty well as TWC and a stormwolf full of claws in their force should be a good enough distraction! Valerian
You could use Deathwolf to outflank a squad of TWC Â WLK Â Ah, I didn't see Wispy mention Harald, so maybe that's exactly what he's doing. Â Using the Deathwolf for the TWC, and then gambling on the 4+ for the Hunters in a Stormwolf. Ragnars Claw
I was planning on using him as a huge distraction. Drop him down turn 1 and push up hard with the rest of the army. Â Do they shoot the murderfang? Â Or the rest of the army? Â Or even better for me try and split between the two! Grimtooth
I think the strength in the WUD is after the first turn your support is basically coming in when you need it. Acute senses then makes it easier to put it where you want it. Â So your troop choices gettino the chance to outflank and then once turn two starts, you get to pick where you want them...almost. Dyemor
I bought the Lucius Drop Pod for him, my fluff being that its a large refrigerator with him in it. :)Drop him turn 1 on one of the enemies flanks, but leave him embarked on it while he 'defrosts'. Enemy has to destroy the 12 armour 3HP vehicle before they can shoot him.Turn 2 he can assault out of the Pod into nearest unit. DanPesci
Can't assault out of a lucious anymore. Â Does that count if you sit in it for one turn first? (ie cant assault the turn you come on...fair enough) Â If so, what is the point of a lucious pod these days? If nothing else he distracted your son for about a turn. Gave your TWC a chance to close the gap! I bought the Lucius Drop Pod for him, my fluff being that its a large refrigerator with him in it. Drop him turn 1 on one of the enemies flanks, but leave him embarked on it while he 'defrosts'. Enemy has to destroy the 12 armour 3HP vehicle before they can shoot him. BT_Cennar
Dont you disembark on the turn you land from a droppod ? Im pretty sure the rules for droppods forces you to disembark right after they arive. Does Lucius DropPod change that rule ?
