I was hoping to draw on your extensive knowledge Wolf Brothers.

 

I am kicking aroung the idea of building Space Wolf models specifically for use with the  Space Hulk boardgame. 

I was wanting to have Logan Grimnar lead the force (as a counts as Lorenzo), and I was thinking about using Arjax as the other squad leader (Counts as Gideon).

 

Would all of the Terminators share Logan's right shoulder Heraldry (The wolf that stalks between the stars), would thay have yellow shoulders as I have often seen pictured, or would they have individual heraldry?

 

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Black Shoulder Pad, with The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars in white. That's Logan's Company heraldry, so all his men should be wearing it..

 

The yellow you often see is either part of pack markings on the right shoulder (which Terminators don't have, thanks to the crux) or specifically Ragnar's company, whose heraldry (usually worn of the left, but again the crux makes TDA the exception) is a black Blackmane symbol on a yellow background.

Thank you for the quick reply. So I am assuming that the same would apply for the 13th company also. With exception of course to where their armour has been replaced with salvaged chaos bits.

 

I was also thinking about the option of building a 13th company Space Hilk team. Possibly modelling a wolfen to represent the lightening clawed terminator in the team.

This sounds like a great idea. Make sure to post pics of models and the board with them on it, also if you have any extra Nid bitz ie. heads you could model them on to the termies as we like to collect trophies .

Thanks. I am excited about the project, and I will for sure post pics as it comes along. I am just wrapping up my Death Wing Space Hulk project, so the wolves are not on the table yet.

 

I think I will go for a 13th company Hulk team. There seems to be even more modelling opportunities to play with using this fluff/mystery rich company.

Pretty much, the EoT stuff had their heraldry as the symbol you can get on the 13th Company decal sheet on this very website, over a black background. Also, thanks to the Claw/Hunter system being absent, the right shoulder pad was also most commonly shown to be black too, usually with a wolf's head/paw symbol in red (although the crux would again make this unnecessary, unless you're using FW HH era TDA kits).

Actually they wouldn't have the Wolf that Stalks the Stars on their shoulder pad they would have the wolf howling with the moon behind it.

 

Only Logan Grimnar can use the wolf that stalks the stars (plus some others who have earned the right to) the rest of his pack would use his personal wolf symbol from before he became Great Wolf

Nope, upon ascension to Great Wolf the Company badge becomes the Wolf That Stalks Between Stars, and is therefore worn by the entire company. To see this in action, take a look a Champions of Fenris when it goes on general release, all the pics, model or artwork that have a visible company badge show the Wolf That Stalks Between Stars.

Ok... So the Company Lord's heraldry is worn by the whole company, got it.

This conversation has sparked another question for me... If all the members of a great company share the same heraldry, where does the new heraldry come from when the wolf lord dies and is replaced? Is the heraldry then designed based on the new lords personality?

Yes, when a new Wolf Lord is elected to take over a great company, he then chooses the heraldry which he and his company will bear, so it is quite fluid new Lord new heraldry.

 

Confuses the starch bottomed  codex followers no end :p.

 

Which is why Logans company can have either the Wolf that stalks or his own company symbol from prior to becoming great wolf.

Kind of. Technically Logan's company symbol is now The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars, and by this point into his tenure as Great Wolf most warriors will only have fought in the Company in its 'Company of the Great Wolf incarnation' and so can be expected to wear the 'official' heraldry, especially given the pride the company takes in being the company of the Great Wolf. Logan's old symbol is most likely to be seen as additional ornamentation, worn as well as The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars. This would be especially likely for any survivors of the Company's pre-Great Wolf days, so would be far more common at say, 1st Armageddon than the 13th Black Crusade.

 

But on the other hand, part of the point of the Wolves is that they're a rowdy, unpredictable bunch who don't like being told what to do. So although The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars is most likely to appear (as the official stuff shows), I wouldn't be surprised if Logan's old symbol is present in the ranks of his company.
