Grimtooth
So I got to thinking about this detachment yet again, HQ HQ Melta toting GH pack in DP Melta toting GH pack in DP Ven Dread with axe and BS(hahaha) in a pod. Now no need to take outflank rolls as 2 of 3 pods will be coming in first turn. However on turn two, you can pick or choose to pass or fail reserve roll for third pod. So the two troop choices will not be object secured. Those would come from my CAD. But two melta strike packs seems pretty strong in this role. Basically would be one pack and the Ven Dread comING down first turn with the Ven Dread in close support for the impending assault. Frater Cornelius
I was thinking the same, only taking it a step further with more dreads in pods (possibly even bjorn), a stormwolf and gh in rhinos instead to have the option to outflank but ultimately to force reserves and have more than 2 HQs. Gotta see how this measures up with the Champions detachment. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295150-wud-and-gh/#findComment-3776929 Share on other sites

Thats exactly the build I'm toying with for a start, and having 3rd drop pod (Bjorn) coming in turn 2 and DS 5 termies to really saturate the frontline. I play mostly versus Tau, so hoping the ven dread can weather the interceptor suits first up. Just for clarity sake, the Tau interceptor, skyfire and OWE rule, will the suits be able to fire against more than 1 pod coming down 1st round? I know the rules say it replaces their shooting for those weapons in the shooting phase, just cant find anything on if can fire interceptor against more than 1 target from same unit arriving from reserves in the same turn. Frater Cornelius
When a unit intercepts with a weapon, they can not fire the same weapon in the following SHOOTING phase (they can still overwatch). Tau can also only fire a single weapon for interceptor because multi-tracker only works in the shooting phase. Same goes for all the Tau buffmander items, only dakka phase. Realistically, the only unit that can potentially damage you dread is a Riptide with tl-melta (very common) and Broadsides with HYMP (4 shots tl-ac per model, also very common) or their tl-meltas (rather uncommon). As such the blizzard dread is an amazing drop (even better if you drop multiples) because if he is stupid enough to EWO them, he just lost his shooting power for the next shooting phase. If he is smart and saves it, you still have insane saturation and some very durable dudes up front if you support you drop well enough.
