I have a crusader/redeemer kit, what to build

Okay, in all seriousness, either one is okay. Crusader means you can shoot from further away and keep up the fire as you advance. Redeemer relies on you getting very aggressive and closing to BBQ range, which is also melta range :( . If you already have an LRC, go for the Redeemer. Variety is the spice of life.

The Storm Raven sponsons do indeed look really good on a LR. I did this a while back as my Hell Hound, I got one for study only, attacked my LR and got a weapon destroyed result, bad dog. They fit no problem, a little green stuff will fill in the small gaps and the vehicle gets a cool stream lined look.

I for one don't like getting my LRC in close enough for some one to microwave it. I would go SR robbed LRC.

Thanks for the replies. Crusader it is. I think the bigger troop capacity will help out in the long run too.

Well I think everyone agreed with magnetising for both options lol. But the higher troop capacity is pretty good I guess

High troop capacity and all weapons can be snap fired, but also depends on what you are fighting normally.  Light to medium infantry are prime targets for the bolter fire, redeemers is good for marines but templates can not be snap fired which limits mobility or use to some degree, Power of the Machine Spirit can always flame something.

I need to brake off my lascannons and magnetize my God Hammer pattern as well.

I enjoy using my Redeemer but it is lucky to ever fire its flamers more then once a game. The crusader on the other hand will be able to fire all in the first turn, a lot more forgiving then the flamers but still. As for magnets, well I have a few magnetized models but I seem to never switch out their weapons. I have 2 land raiders, 2 crusaders for my DW, I may use one of those to see how it preforms then base my decision on that. Now as for opponents, mostly CSM, DA, SW, tau, nids and necrons. I'm the one that has all the pointy ear armies so don't get to play against them. Oh ya, I also have a terminus but haven't fielded it in a long time. Maybe now I will. Thanks guys

Taking my question in a bit of a different direction. How about a regular land raider. 2 TL lascannons vs the other weapons, does this make for a better option in your opinions? I ask because it is a long range tank killer in my opinion and helps give us that option.

Welcome to the forums Beaches! Right now, 3LR and 3 VDreads in a bound list (which may change in the new codex) and whatever you want in an unbound. If you haven't yet gotten the new rule book for 40k, I will suggest that before you buy too much for your force. If rumors are true, then I own several models that will be gone when the new dex comes out and don't want you or any others starting out with the GK to end up with that situation.

As for my question, just realized that a regular LR can take a multi-melta! Guess I missed that waaaay back because neither one of my DW LR have them modeled on them.

DWLR1 (640x361)

I think all the landraiders can have a multimelta upgrade for 10pts can't they?

And you could just have 3 mini games and try all 3 different landraider variants? I know 2 twin lascannons sound nice, but if you're moving to get units inside into assault then you're only ever going to fire 1 lascannon a turn, and that's only because of machine spirit. And if you keep the landraider as a gun boat then that just wasting the assault vehicle benefits, it also means you're wasting the multimelta upgrade as it's only 24", so no matter what way you're looking at it you're only really shooting 1 gun unless you slowly crawl it up the board (taking extreme fire because they're fire magnets lol)

That's not actually correct, Dread; there is no limit to the number of Land Raiders or Dreadnoughts one can take in a Battleforged army. The only constraint is the points available to you, based on the game size chosen for play. Within that points limitation, you may include any number of Combined Arms Detachments, or Nemesis Strike Forces (a Faction-specific Detachment for the Grey Knights) as you please, and each of those allow several/many of the units in question.

HAHA! You are so right V. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all these changes with army comp. It's really strange to have this ability, most of us around here are still sticking to the regular FOC. Thanks for clearing that up or the gentle nudge to this old dog.

man iv been reading all over the place that all the "fun stuff" in our codex is going to be removed.
iv been playing gk's sense they first arrived on the table, and when all the other kids poked fun and laughed that my models cost more in game and out, and that i dont have as much "on the table" as them, and still here i am loving every bit of the GK's and there inquiz buddies, but i cease to understand why GW will be taking good things and making it harder..ore worse.

i pray this codex will be worth the 59 bones ill be spending on it.
