Legion-o-fying Generic Models

Mighty Jack would be awesome as a diorama, leaning slightly on a wall, lecturing the other titans on how great the Imperium was when he was built.

Johnnie Walker blue label bottles shoot 10" Strength D blast templates I hear.....

Howabout some of the Chaos SM legs for Mk I Thunder Armour?

I guess it's the vertical arrows that made me think of it. Sure any of the spikey bitz would need to be filed down, but it might make a good start.

The 40K skull torso SM bitz are useable. The @%# bolters usually hide them anyway.

Maybe the SM Champion shoulder pauldrons?

Don't forget the Cadian helmets.

And in regards to my own Mix-N-Match Armor Marks™, I finally broke down and did this:

I still think the legs are the most hideous PA legs in the whole damn miniature range and I don't care for the gloved hand look, but the torsos and heads I can make use of.

It really depends on the look the person is going for, Frost. Kage and others have trademarked the Mix-n-Match style, and every model in their army reflects that. On the flip side, there are just as many people whose armies keep the same mark of armor, if not through the whole squad at least from model to model. Mixed marks usually reflect a battle tested/weary force that's cobbling power armour together from the limited stock of parts they have available. Or maybe its a stylistic choice by the individual Astartes. Mono-mark armies usually depict a force at the beginning of the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy. Or maybe they're a well supplied force with ties to one of the various Mechanicum factions.

It really all depends on the taste of the individual building the army. Whatever tickles your fancy, good sir!

Thats a good point. Whichever Legion i end up going with, i would like them to have EVERYTHING, the 14 year olf kid in me who lose his Pokemon Red with all 150 makes me NEED to Catch all the Astartes.

SO i was thinking Mechanicum units with it, with implied strong ties, that could be a factor. But i supposed i could make the Mechanicum look as ragged as the Legions, still orginal parts, just patched up a few times.

I do like the mix and match, makes it less Uniform and more mobile fighting force.

It all depends on personal taste, Frostmourne. As I mentioned previously, I initially wanted to do mono-mark, but once I started putting together a few MK III guys I quickly realized how boring it was going to be. The force I'm building is set at the tail end of a very long campaign that nearly wiped out their entire Company, and that's another part of why I'm mixing up the armor.

Once you get the models in front of you and start putting them together, you'll find out your own preferences.

I find that mixing and matching armour in tactical squads works great, but in specialist units, like breacher squads or heavy support units, I think that mono mark works better. As they are more specialised to the task in hand - e.g. boarding etc.
