*That* cool legion idea thread

So I'd thought I would make this as I see so many cool ideas for a legion or mechanicum force.

I'd like to see what you guys want to make but don't necessarily have the time, money, etc to do it. More of a want and future project.

Here are some of mine:

-> World Eaters bonanza. Loads of crazy freedom berserkers (they wear red, white, and blue no? :P) charging across the table to smack face. I'm talking around 3 squads of juiced up 20 man despoiler squads supported by contemptors and some fast tanks. Or maybe even 3 land raiders full of WEs!

All of the models would have the new helmet upgrades and bunny ears :D

-> Word Bearer world burners. A couple squads of assault marines, destroyers, and Ashen circle. The ASMs will be the new rich wine color of heresy, but the destroyers will still be the ash grey of their victims pyres.

-> White Scars.

Srsly tho. Look at Templarscrusade01's channel on youtube and his beautifully done white scars. Oh and because I've been looking at Chris Wright's book lol. That is an awesome force that has so few fans.

Let your fantasies run wild brothers! What kind of army do you want? If you could...would you collect a whole chapter's worth?!

Already on it, though my timetable is set during Unification.  ;) First guy's almost done.

Word Bearers secret police/objective vanguard: Destroyer elites seize the objective while breachers consolidate with Spartans. Can't decide if I want Ashen Circle or those fancy schmancy jet speeders taking up the FA slot. And then some Mechanicum/Knight/Titan allies they pick up while fleeing the surface of Calth. That's right, Calth survivors.

The RG rules have made me re-think starting them in 30k as they would be a time/$$$ intensive effort...and I WANT the Wolves. I cannot wait for them, and make just start stocking 30k slowly until their release.

Give at least one of them blue and white face paint and a Greatsword, it might even be a Psyker with Pyromancy and Biomancy.tongue.png Oh right that was the other Mel Gibson film with essentially the same plot as The Patriot.

Since I'm currently working on building up my main Imperial Fists Veterans Force right now, later down the line, making a World Eaters True Grit Blender Blob is the goal.

What the Blender-blob Consists of : 3 Chaplains (still to be finalized on what HQ's I'll use) 3 20 man True Grit Tac Blobs, 3 apothecaries, 3 Spartans and 3 Dual DCCW Contemptors.

AKA: Clown Car World Eaters.

Main limiting factor in all this is the 3 Spartans tongue.png Will also Probably mainly use MK II and MK V For the Marines with Chainaxes galore.

Kinda like Depth's Idea but with added Rapid Fire Fury of the Legion eraser-ability.

Iron Warriors "urban pacification" force.

Leviathan FOC.

Leviathan LoW: Stormsword

Siege Breaker consul HQ.

Tyrant Siege Termi squad (escort Siege Breaker).

Caestus 'limo' for HQ & termis.

Two Breacher squads (10 pax) in LR Phobos. Shrapnel shells for heavy bolters.

Macharius Vulcan for added fire support.

It's small, but 3k points. Also quite pricey. The super heavies & caestus are probably the main limiting factors.

Failing that, maybe a Stor-Bezashk force. Complete with a pair of Minotaurs....

I had an idea for a shattered Legion Salamanders force, but with the idea that they'd seconded detatchments from Imperial Army forces to enhance their effective strength. Basically as large an army as possible with as few Legionaries as possible.

So any combination of HQs

Probably a couple of Dreads for elites, maybe with a Techmarine & some servitors - you could also have some Rapiers commandeered from the Army

Any combination of troops, ideally with numbers relatively low

For Fast Attack, plenty of Tarantula sentry guns, and Primaris Lightnings for Imperial Army fighter wings

In heavy support, squads of Medusa / Basilisks, but using the upcoming Solar Auxilia models to represent Imperial Army units. Plus a few Deathstorm Pods.

For Lords of War, Imperial Army Malcadors would be cool, but baneblades / shadowswords / stormswords would also work

Heresy era Iron Hands, Ferrus manus has his head inserted into a knight, skittari forces and the like booster the ranks of his iron hands,  So singluar surviving morlocks leading mech praetorians into battle,  devestator squads boosted by servitors, iron hands assault squads supported by mechanicus sentinels.

My (one of so VERY many) current pipedream is to build all 3 complete forces from the First Battle of Paramar i.e. Khyr Valen & 77th Grand Battalion + Mechanicus Forces vs the entire Alpha Legion strikeforce inc. Knights, Titans & Mechanicus... All I need is a lottery jackpot. :)

Otherwise (and something a tad more feasable) I want to build a large-scale [8ftx6ftx8ft] ZM board complete with working lighting and power switching to replicate the power outages and if I could get the right tech-wiz to do it I'd aim for working bulkhead doors :D

Hmmm... (swirly fade-in with harp music)

Dark Angel Legion, 6 Wings:

Deathwing (900 legionnaires - 600 terminators, 300 veterans)

Ravenwing (900 legionnaires - 300 outriders, 60 attack-bikes, 300 skyhunters, the rest as crew for speeders, gunships, and fighters)

Ironwing (900 legionnaires - 480 heavy support, the rest as crew for tanks, etc)

Dreadwing (900 legionnaires - 720 breach siege, 180 recon))

Stormwing (900 legionnaires - 720 assault, 180 despoilers))

Knightwing (900 legionnaires - 720 tactical, 180 tac-supports)

...and dedicated transports

...and apothecariums

...and praetors and centurions for each wing

I've estimated the cost at roughly $... nevermind, even I don't want to know...

Brother Archangel - I fear that 20k might not be enough... after all 100 Terminators will clock in around the 15k mark alone (unsure of equivalent in $ but they're £275 for 20) as that's 5 sets of the 20 bundle.

However if you manage this feat I would heartily like to see it in person (even if it requires a trip across the pond) :)

Hehe, you haven't seen what my wishlist for ETL VI that I'm planning is.

Make sure you use my patented M2C Forge World Price Calculation for Convincing Significant Others tongue.png

I don't have a significant other so its just convincing my wallet the pain isn't as bad as it thinks it is. tongue.png

Care to elaborate a little? Could be handy ;)
1GBP=2USD(ignore standard conversion rate)

Cool legion ideas huh?

Here are the forces I want to build up:

Dark Angels force featuring all the wings (once they are revealed and detailed) specifically as the fought in the Thramas Crusade.

Imperial Fists for the Battle of Phall.  They would also be a nice companion to:

Mechanicum for the war on mars.  Imperial fists involved, mechanicum and dark mechanicum everywhere, titans abound... glorious.

War on Calth Ultramarines and then Word Bearers.  Dirty, desperate, survivor Ultramarines vs Dirty, desperate, zealot Word Bearers.  Lots of crazy forces to mix and match - anything they could scrounge up really.  I see moritats being common, veteran squads (they survive long enough and they become veterans by default), lots of beat up infantry on both sides.

@RussBrother92: What can I say? My mind snapped to save the few remaining rational brain cells I have left.

@Marshall2Crusaders: Sorry, I haven't exposed myself to enough resin dust to dream bigger yet.

@Kol_Saresk: lucky. In midnight clad lucky.

@Millicant: ...and I'll add your choices to my list as well. Except Calth. I have to draw the line somewhere.
