L30n1d4s
So, I know Dark Angels and Space Wolfs are rivals and would not work together easily, at least in fluff terms (in game terms they are Battle Brothers now), but looking at the new Tempestus discipline (and Jaws of the World Wolf particularly) I thought these two may have a few tricks up their sleeve working together. The one that stands out to me is using the Stasis Bomb from the Dark Talon to bomb an enemy unit (preferably a high value character), dropping its WS and I by -3. Since this occurs in the Movement Phase and lasts until the end of the turn and most characters are I5, that means that the character is now I2.... in the following Psychic Phase, target that same character with JotWW...if you pass the Psychic test/he fails DtW, then he is testing on I2, meaning that he is straight up removed on a 3+, no to wound, no armor saves, no cover saves, no Invul saves, no FNP, and even Eternal Warrior cannot prevent this. Best targets for this tactic are characters like Iron Hands Chapter Masters on Bikes with Shield Eternal, Jetseers running around with Mantle of the Laughing God, Tooled out Tau Commanders/Buffmanders, Necron Destroyer Lords with 2+ Armor saves, high value Tyranids without MC rule (like Zoanthropes), and EW beatsticks like Draigo, Lysander, Calgar, and even Logan Grimnar himself. Fray
Sounds like a great combo. My only issues are that it means a minimum 285 pt investment in Dark Angels, the Stasis Bomb is one use only, and it's sort of a one-trick-pony, since the DA allies aren't really shoring-up a weakness or acting as a good force multiplier. Would love to see the look on an unsuspecting victim's face though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295263-dark-angels-and-jotww/#findComment-3778912 Share on other sites
Nadir
Yeah, but you have to be lucky enough to roll off the Jaws. So it's too rosky to spend so mamy ponita om a tactic that may never be possible. But still, I like the idea:) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295263-dark-angels-and-jotww/#findComment-3778927 Share on other sites
Z00Z
Whilst sounds good on paper, isnt that hot practically. As a focused witchfire, warp charge 2 means you need 3 rolled charge dices to select the target of your choice in a unit otherwise its closest model in unit with 2 rolled dice. That would mean you would want to at leasr roll 5 dice to bring your chances up to 50%, up from 4 dice at 33%. So thats a ML 2 rune priest at least. Lots of pts for this highly co-ordinated 1 trick pony Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295263-dark-angels-and-jotww/#findComment-3778997 Share on other sites
