Ldorte
So I've acquired yet another secondhand baneblade for a very small amount of money, I have no need for 2 yet alone 3 so I'm gonna paint this one up to a decent standard and sell it on. I've decided on a desert scheme but need ideas, anyone got some good examples/suggestions for desert camo that would look good on a super heavy? WarriorFish
Tallarn has quite a nice tank scheme, though I might be a little biased! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3778922 Share on other sites
march10k
Errrmmm... Mine Your chocolate chip camo is beautiful, but not on a baneblade! It got problematic enough on a camo cloak... Erm... http://s.hswstatic.com/gif/military-camouflage-8.jpg How's that? Sadly (in terms of a modeling project, it's boring), this is the reality: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/aa/US_Navy_031214-N-3236B-008_A_Marine_from_the_13th_Marine_Expeditionary_Unit_(13th_MEU)_Tank_Platoon_BLT_1-1_stationed_at_Twentynine_Palms,_Calif.,_directs_an_M1-A1_Abrams_tank_during_a_training_exercise.jpg Boring as hell, but effective... Ldorte
Hmmm, bit of rust and a lot of desert yellow. Not too time consuming at least! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3778976 Share on other sites

march10k
the green and yellow one? Not to desert-y! It's pretty, but I don't think it goes with the infantry very well... WarriorFish
Possibly a sign of distress? Have you decided on a scheme yet Ldorte, or do you need a few more ideas? Maybe we can find some different examples from real life to help! Ldorte
Found some british ww2 desert camo, but I'm not sure it suits the baneblade. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll171/satanaka4711/Matilda08_zps7a7c954d.jpg I'm leaning towards a single block colour with some sections done in a darker shade (probably a desert yellow) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3779859 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Good old Matilda, though I was always more partial to the Crusader as it looked really cool. That sounds like it'll be a good scheme, though I'd hold off once you've done the first block colour for a day or two to see if you like that enough by itself :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3780103 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
I always assumed they were related to the amphibious nature of the tank somehow... probably best not to delve too deeply into GW vehicle design for that way madness lies  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3780630 Share on other sites
march10k
No way, compare them to the 'tilda! That's PRECISELY where they got that design feature from. And I'm sure they know no more than I do about their function! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3781030 Share on other sites
Ldorte
Well picked up a couple leman russ to sell alongside the baneblade, thought i'd start with them to get a good technique down for this colour scheme. So far we just have primer: http://i.imgur.com/lmNkeXZ.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295265-baneblade/#findComment-3799711 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
A good start, can't wait to see more tanks done :) How have you applied the paint? From the picture it looks like it might be a little thick, but that could be the light on it? Ldorte
Was a spray can, unfortunately I was fighting the wind a little so a couple of areas are thicker than others, it's not too bad though. Will probably do it in the garage next time.
