L30n1d4s
Despite his very large point drop and some areas of improvement (his Wolf Claw now gives him +1S compared with his old stats), it seems like most people are discounting Lukas as a viable option for competitive SW armies. In part this is because his rules are not so impressive as to be "auto-take" (like, say, TWC or Ulrik the Slayer are now) and in part because of the nerf to his "Last Laugh" rule, which means he can only hope to "suicide tackle" another character in a challenge. Despite these concerns, I think the combination of reduced cost and his assignment as an IC in the Troops slot makes a MAJOR difference.... now Lukas has Objective Secured! What that means is, for just over the price of three PFs you can take him, drop him in an empty Stormwolf/Stormfang, then jump out late in the game and take an objective.... what's more, if you put him in a Stormwolf (or any Land Raider variant, for that matter), he can even assault out, tear up a small enemy squad and/or challenge out a critical enemy Character, either killing him or at least taking him out of the fight (-3WS for the enemy while in a challenge with the old Jackalwolf). Think of him like a Lone Wolf that has Objective Secured and a bonus in fighting challenges and I think players might get some utility out of him, even in a competitive setting. Grimtooth
Thinking of him as a Lone Wolf I'd a good way to look at his role. I would also say that he would be pretty decent challenge fodder if you had him, a WGPL, and a Wolf Priest in a BC pack. nightwing1511
Keep in mind, he only has Objective Secured if you take him in a combined Arms Detachment :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295279-lukas-and-competitive-use/#findComment-3779884 Share on other sites
