Sisters of Battle Allies as "Counts As" Valkyries...

Just reviewing the new SW book and seeing how it works with other imperial allies and then I glanced through the SoB Codex and thought "wow, what if I had an allied Repentia squad ride in a SW Stormwolf.... attach a Priest for War Hymns to these girls and they would be a devastating counter assault unit turn 3-4."

Then I started thinking, what if the Repentia were not simply Sisters of Battle, but rather Bezerker female "Valkyrie" warriors wielding great Eviscerator style Battle Axes who were drawn from the same Fenresian tribes as the SW aspirants were and who formed their own 'Sister" society to the Space Wolves?

Sister of Battle army-wide rules like Acts of Faith, Adamantium Will, and Shield of Faith could be easily transplanted to represent Nordic Warrior Women fighting for Emperor... even Power Armor could be transposed, with the "Valkyries" wearing heavy armor, but not being as physically augmented as their Space Wolf brethren.

In terms of the dominance of flamers, meltas, and bolters in the SoB codex, this could be explained by the "Valyries" having a 'Cult of Fire, Sky, Sun, and Forges' that is kind of a mirror to the Space Wolf affinity for frost, snow, and storm.

Modeling would be a lot of work, but I am certain there are some good 25mm Valkyrie like plastic models out there that could be modified with greenstuff and GW bitz to make them look appropriate in the 40k universe. Something like this, at least to start with:

In terms of fluff equivalents, here is what I have come up with so far:

HQ

-Sant Celestine -- Warrior Queen Eodicea, Keeper of the Sunblade

-Uriah Jacobus -- High Priestess Verithyna, Seer of the Starflame

-Priests -- Warrior Priestesses of Fenris

-Battle Conclaves -- Retinue of the Warrior Queen (DCA = modeled as lightly armored Queen's Sword Maidens; Crusaders = modeled as Queen's Shield Guards with Great Shields; Arco-Flagellants = modeled as great Snow Leopards, the Queen's Hunting Beasts)

-Cannoness -- (Would not use)

-Sororitas Command Squad -- (Would not use)

TR

-SoB Squads -- Huntress Cohorts (modeled as Valkyries clad in silver Power Armor with repeating Powerbolt Crossbows)

-Rhino -- Huntress Chariot (Hover chariot model of Rhino)

-Immolator -- Forge-breath Chariot (Hover chariot with great red mirror/crystal weapons that project fire weapon, either Heavy Flamers or MMs)

EL

-Repentia -- Maidens of the Burning Axe (no armor Bezerker Valykries with giant, two handed Burning Eviscerator style Power Axes)

-Celestians -- (Would not use)

FA

-Seraphim -- Winged Avenger Cohort (modeled like Valkerie "angels" with winged jump packs and dual Gauntlet-mounted mini Power Arrow Crossbows)

-Dominions -- Forge-Maiden Cohort (modeled like Valkyrie blacksmiths with melta/flamer equivelants)

HS

-Retributors -- Burning-Spear Cohort (modeled like Valkyries with Power-tipped Bolts shot from great, augmented Hunting Bows)

-Exorcist -- Skybow Chariot (modeled like a Hover-chariot armed with giant, multi-shot Ballista with Burning Bolts)

-Penitent Engines -- Pyre Guardians (like Dreadnoughts, mortally wounded Valkyrie warrior maidens who are kept alive in giant Exoskeleton Walkers which are used to guard the sacred Pyres of the Order)

In the tribes, the Fenrisian women act as shield maidens, plus in Batle of rhe Fang one of main mortal characters in the book is a woman who is part of the Aett-Guard or equivalent (forget their title) so women are around the Wolves and they do pick up weapons and fight.

I would also imagine thatthere are female bondmen(people) aboard the starships too.

Could work, after all they spent a bunch of time on Kasper Anspach Hawser, maybe they'd do the same for some of their favoured defenders too?

Probably easiest to start with Fantasy elves and work from there, at least that's how I'd do it. Best choice would be to work from the phoenix guard kit, use corsair handbows for pistol and dark elves repeaters for bolters. Dwarf shields could help make look more armoured and shadow warrior heads with the point filed down and a plume/wings added might help too.

I think I might knock something together tomorrow from bits I have laying around and see how it looks, though I'll have to work with mostly wood elf bits.

great idea , and i think as mentioned above  there is fluff to support it . i can't remember where i read it but i am sure there is an all woman home guard force of some sort in the fang , they were suppose to be body guards or something . great idea .
