No longer present in 7e codex, so Fenrisian Wolves are out for all Wolf Lords planning to embark a Transport, but still work well for those on TWCs, Bikes, or just Footslogging it.

bikes are terrible with wolves as you lose both Fleet, Run and Turbo Boost.

with guys on foot the wolves just lose Fleet.

I didn't say it was a good idea to do it - just that if you do, you can bring your Fenrisian Wolf companions.

Oh well, a Grey Hunter or Wolf Guard revenue makes better look out sir guards anyway, with a 3+ or 3++ with stormshields, may actually survive the LOS. But 8 points vs 14-18 points a model/ablative wound is what made the wolves accessory attractive in the first place. Not to mention 2 attacks.

It's not... 100% clear how bikes and infantry/cavalry/beasts interact. You definately lose fleet since not everyone has it, but it's not 100% clear whether or not the wolves can run while the bikes turbo-boost. You lose some of the mobiity, but it might not be a total loss.

just poured over it, here's how it goes:

WOLF WITH BIKE

As the Wolf has Move Through Cover, the whole unit can use it, so Bikes auto pass Dangerous Terrain with a Wolf

Whole unit does not have Fleet so lost completely.

The Bike can still Turboboost, but is limited to the distance that the Wolf can Run normally, 1d6", no reroll as no Fleet; so you will never get 12 inches.

They removed the distance from your starting point limitation in Turbo Boost so even if you go 1" the Bikes can still Jink, but the Wolf does not get Jink.

You still roll 2d6" charge range, but cannot reroll, the distance as the whole unit does not have Fleet, and you do not ignore the -2" penalty as the whole unit does not have Move Through Cover.

When Falling Back, you still roll 3d6".

WOLF WITH INFANTRY

As the Wolf has Move Through Cover, the whole unit can use it, so Infantry auto pass Dangerous Terrain with a Wolf

Unless the Infantry unit also has Fleet, Fleet is lost so no rerolling Run or Charge dice.

You still roll 2d6" charge range, but cannot reroll, the distance as the whole unit does not have Fleet, and you do not ignore the -2" penalty as the whole unit does not have Move Through Cover.

As the whole unit is not Beasts, you fall back only 2d6"

I really hope we get an FAQ getting Loyal Compaions back, otherwise the Fenrisian wolves upgrade is practically useless unless with a Thunderlord.

Thunderwolves and Lone Wolves were basically the only reason to use them in the first place.

True, they were never worth taking in transports in the past anyway, as they were Bulky, and took up too much room (Ragnar and his two Wolves took up 5 slots in a Drop Pod), so not at all worth the opportunity cost.  However, now with Lone Wolves being able to (if you wanted) take a Fast Attack Drop Pod, it would actually work out alright if their Wolves could join them.
