MakoBoy88
I keep hearing about different FOC's within 30k. I don't have the rule books but can anyone give me some info of what they are and are any good for Sallies? Fire Golem
I don't know the specifics, but I will in a couple of hours... But in book 2 there's Onslaught, which I think is more FA? Leviathan, which is up to 3 LoW I think, and Castellan which is all about fortifications. MakoBoy88
Oh wow. Well that adds a lot of dimensions to the game I guess! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295387-different-focs/#findComment-3781406 Share on other sites
Nehekhare
none of them get objective secured (or any other benefits), so you're better off playing by the brb in any case. Fire Golem
Does the usual 30k force org chart get objective secured? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295387-different-focs/#findComment-3781426 Share on other sites
LongGone
none of them get objective secured (or any other benefits), so you're better off playing by the brb in any case. Oh, snap. You gone and done it now. Russ Brother 92
Not as yet - currently in terms of Obj. Secured and the like it's only 40k codices (sp?) that get the new rules - 30k is in 6th Ed. in that regard. Â I am planning an IFs Castellan force - Chaplain, MoS, 60 Bones Tacs, 2 Teleporting Termi Squads, 2 Castellum fortresses, a Fire Raptor, a Shadowsword, 2 HS squads... comes to around 6k though aha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295387-different-focs/#findComment-3781460 Share on other sites
Nehekhare
it's only 40k codices (sp?) that get the new rules - 30k is in 6th Ed. in that regard. Â that is not quite correct. Â Battles in the Age of Darkness is a supplement to the game warhammer: 40,000 and thus uses the (current) 40k rules by default, even though it may have been written with previous editions in mind. Saying it still uses 6th ed. is like saying Codex: Chaos Space Marines still plays by 6th ed. Â secundus: it's not codices that get benefits, but detachments (combined army & allied get obj sec & ideal commander, others get other benefits as specified, e.g. none for the AoD ones). These however can be chosen from any codex, including the legiones astartes crusade army list. Noone forces you to use the AoD FOC, it is not even recommended for games under 1750pts. Using the Crusade Army list isn't tied to using the AoD supplement (the HH FAQ specifies that) at all. Marshal Rohr
Simplest answer is to restrict yourself to the lists and force pegs from the Isstvan trilogy until Conquest is released with the 7th edition update. Â Also, I was bummed when I realized you can't use RoW with the other Force Orgs :( my 5 heavy support Iron Warriors idea was beautiful. Nehekhare
na, simplest is to just use the brb rules like everyone else. much less explaining and the inconsistencies are manageable. Â btw, the RoW may not work with the *optional* AoD FOCs, but there is no rules that prevents them being used with combined arms or allied detachments, so you could just take 2 CADs for 6 Heavy Support. Marshal Rohr
Thats poor advice for someone who is starting an army now, and makes expensive purchases thinking they can use multiple detachments, just like the BRB. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295387-different-focs/#findComment-3781725 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
Or you can just follow the rules as in the heresy books... Hence playing 30k not 40k but this is a fruitless conversation. MakoBoy88
Its true, the guy who runs my local tournaments asked me to ask GW a while back about 30k and 40k comes 7th edition. And the reply i got was basically "Do what ever the fug you want, but in tournaments, read the rules pack" Solves alot of issues. Brofist
Also, I was bummed when I realized you can't use RoW with the other Force Orgs my 5 heavy support Iron Warriors idea was beautiful. You still can! Use the Hammer of Olympia ROW and then take an allied detachment of Admech or Imperial Army (whenever that comes out). e: Or just use the BRB FOC, hur Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295387-different-focs/#findComment-3781762 Share on other sites

Fire Golem
In the Taghmata Omnissiah part, it says 'this army may be used both within the system found in [40k rulebook] as well as those for Zone Mortalis and Age of Darkness battles' so Im guessing you can use the different force org charts for it.
