Thunder_god
Hi all. Here's the prototype Grey Hunter for my 7th edition additions. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/wrnjr/2F24D206-B94E-4359-9B48-BCA9D78D9C03_zpswupcigju.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/wrnjr/71CA31DD-1C47-40D9-A2AC-E7AFCF11E287_zpsas3bcqva.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/wrnjr/EA8F955C-217E-4D56-9EB2-3F27E7188C4E_zpsi968soye.jpg The main color is Vallejo Air Pale Blue Grey (RLM76) over Vallejo Air German Grey. Metals are VABM Old Gold. The base is from Dragon Forge. I prefer axes, but I'm out if bitz right now & plan on building what I have. Your thoughts? I'd appreciate any feed back. Thanks for looking. Karack Blackstone
Nice weathering effects. What's your impression? Mine is that if it works, go with it. This is a pretty good 30K style paint scheme, if it needs to be said. WG Vrox
Nicely done, good weather/chiping effects. Only thing I can suggest is more shades within the hair. Looking forward to seeing a full unit. Grimtooth
I would add some highlighting to hair and some accent to the bolter as both just look like blobs of yellow and black right now. Z00Z
I think you've done an excellent job. He looks fantastic. I'm glad you havent gone overboard with highlights. I dont agree with Brother Ramses, highlights and colour streaks are for pansies. I know its a personal preference, I just personally dont subscribe to the 'cartoon' look. Keep up the excellent work and keep us posted on progress. Well done again sir! Grimtooth
You misunderstand. I am not condoning making him into a Dragonball Z character, but his hair is a blob of inked yellow. Any highlighting on the hair should add definition and actual dimension to it instead of looking 2D. Baulder
looks great. may I suggest a small amount of earthshade wash on the skull and tooth talismans (on shoulder/gun). Then a few highlights with the bleached bone equivalent. For this effect I tend to lightly drybrush after the wash. MustangTC
I like the shade of blue/grey, very "skywarrior". I think the gold colour is too bright however and doesn't balance the model. I would go for a paler more battered gold colour. Sycorax bronze with sycorax/runefang silver mix highlights perhaps. Gold seems to be a difficult color to use for the very reason mentioned here. Is there a gold paint that you recommend? I have had trouble toning down/ageing my gold paints. If there is a paint that works right out of the pot, I would buy it in a heart beat. Z00Z
Shade is personal preference, but in my opinion valejo makes the best golds. Thunder_god
I like the Vallejo alcohol based old gold. It's a personal thing. I have toned it down some more with a brownish wash from AK Interactive. It's designed for Panzer Yellow German armour, but it works here too. My big thing is finding the right shade of grey. I don't want a charcoal grey, but I don't want the pale blue of the studio armies either. chaplainmikey
Looks great, in particular the weathering stands out. Have you decided on which Company you'll be representing? Company icon and pack markings would really finish off the model. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295414-grey-hunter-test-mini-prelude-of-things-to-come/#findComment-3783300 Share on other sites
