Apower101
Mortarion - 425 Calas Typhon - 200 (10) Deathshroud Terminators - 420 (10) Grave Warden Terminators - 400 Spartan Assault Tank - Flare Shields + Armoured Ceramite - 340 Spartan Assault Tank - Flare Shields + Armoured Ceramite - 340 (15) Legion Tactical Squad - Vexilla - 210 (15) Legion Tactical Squad - Vexilla - 210 Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnought - Kheres Assault Cannons - 180 2725 What do you think of this? Obviously mortarion + deathshroud in one spartan, and grave wardens+typhon in the other. The tactical squads would stay backfield/sit objectives and clean up after the termis. The contemptor is there because it is aweseome. How would it do? Also, anything to spend 25 points on? Flamebeast
Well, for starters, Terminators take up 2 spots each in transports, so you can't fit 10 of them plus a character in a Spartan (TC 20). Mortarion takes up 3 slots by himself iirc. At this points level, you're going to need MUCH more anti-tank, especially if you're likely to play against Iron Hands. Also, maxing out those tactical squads would be a good idea, so what I'd do is:- Drop either the Deathshroud or Grave Wardens (Mortarion doesn't need help, and tbh Typhon goes better with Deathshroud since he has the same weapons, so I'd drop the Grave Wardens personally) and their Spartan- Max the tactical squads - Add more anti-tank (at least one, possibly two 3-team Legion Rapier Batteries with Graviton Cannons, because haywire is great).- Add whatever else takes your fancy to fill out the points. It would also be worth looking at Crysos Morturg, since he could join a giant Deathshroud unit with Mortarion, Infiltrate the whole lot, and give them Eternal Warrior and 4+ FNP through his Endurance Psychic Power. This would also save you 340 points on the Spartan, which could then be spent on other, cheaper firepower (10-man special weapons squads toting chem-munitions flamers in Rhinos come to mind). EDIT - one other thing. Apothecaries. You want them. Feel No Pain on your tactical squads will keep them useful for MUCH longer. Molokai
The spartan has a transport capacity of 25, so he's good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295427-death-guard-2750-points/#findComment-3782398 Share on other sites

Maxed tactical squads + apothecary as per above suggestion. dropped the contemptor to afford it. If I go up to 3000 I will add it. Also no tank heavy lists in my local meta. Lots of termis and horde armies though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295427-death-guard-2750-points/#findComment-3782607 Share on other sites
Grimtalos
Looks a bit small on boots on the ground, but then my 3000point list has nearly 200 marines in it :) The problem with a spartan + Mortarion+Typhon+Deathshroud is its 1385 points on its own, its never going to really earn those back. For the same price I can buy around 40 terminators, or a typhon + 30 terminators. I just think there are better things then these large blobs. I love the Grave Warden models, so I would keep them but do you need 10 ? What is your plan with them ? If you drop them to 5 you would have some room to add some anti tank or AA. Apower101
For me it is less about them killing enough to earn their own points back but instead denying the opponent access to a large area of the board. This unit will not die in one game unless he aims multiple titans at it. Using it I can cordon off parts of the board and pull apart his army to be dealt with by the rest of mine. I can drop 5 death shroud and 5 grave wardens though If I have to. Then I could add two mortis contemptors with duel kheres assault cannons or one with kheres and one with lascannons for AA. I was trying to keep it fluffly, hence the lack of lots of AA and the inclusion of pretty much only infantry.
