CatSmasher
Hey guys, If Ulrik Rides in a vehicle does he confer his Preferred Enemy buff onto said vehicle? tylerw
Can I get an answer on this? I'm curious if his PE bubble applies to vehicles within 6" of him as well. Frater Cornelius
All models of the SW codex within 6". That includes himself, his transport, his unit and all transports, units, units inside transports and whatever within 6". If he is in a transport, measure from the hull. tylerw
Okay, thanks. I FIGURED that was the case, but it seems so powerful... ahah. CatSmasher
So its six inches from the hull, on all planes? This makes the fliers pretty cool with Ulrik in it. Frater Cornelius
It is, downside is that he can only come on T2 at best and is subject to reserve rolls/shenanigans. rgr_maddog
It is, downside is that he can only come on T2 at best and is subject to reserve rolls/shenanigans.This.Otherwise, the naked pie plate dropping stormGrrr might be worth a try. That and it's point heavy and a potential big loss. CatSmasher
I think i will take two fliers, and use one to block LOS or give cover to Ulrik's transport and they would both get the buff, re-rollings ones is such a good feeling. Frater Cornelius
You will be forced to go into hover mode eventually to make the most out of the bubble. That is when the pain will happen. Donkalleone
i have an Null Deploymentist using Ulrik in a MMStormGrr with 15 BC to come on Round 2 with the Unleashed Detachment. He gives the bubble by positioning the flyer at the best point possible so the round 2 charge from the Deepstriking units From Round 1 is the most effective while the Grr kills a Priority Target. Outflank from Unleashed can be very handy going for side/rear armor. Still its only 6" which is quite small in my opinion. I have a LRCrus with Arjac SB where im not Sure Sticking Ulric with them, since Stubborn is from Arjac and Preffered Enemy is gained when he is in a chsllenge and i think the 6" bubble might be to small ti help other effectefly. CatSmasher
All units have their risk Immer, I think the StormFliers actually do well in hover, due to armour 12 and the potential to secure objectives. I am reluctant to fill the flier though, its seems to exacerbate the risks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295441-ulrik-and-vehicles-as-dedicated-transports/#findComment-3874657 Share on other sites

Frater Cornelius
I think you are relying too much one a single gimmick. You are investing at least 240 to get VC, at least 225 to get a StormGrrr, another 165 for Ulrik and you have not even started considering Troops, strategy or the main core of your army. At that rate, there will be very little left that can benefit from Ulriks bubble, making him not worth it. I would go for the Damocles Command Rhino in that case. Not quite as solid in reserve manipulation, but much cheaper. Donkalleone
An Additional thought on Ulrik would be using him with a PA-WG-TDA Multi Drop. Packing at least 2x5 Guys in and giving 5 C-Plasma with rerolls of 1 (incl gets Hot) from preffered enemy from Ulrik on both units are 10 S7 Shots each which can kill most vehicles (Rear Armor) and MC. A Pod is a ded Transport ,too. @Immer When going for the Ulric/BC/Stormwolf combi i think viods and damocles are not the way to go but the Unleashed detachment like stated above. 600 points in reserve that MIGHT come in is a too big gamble. Z00Z
Why bother with ulric for pa tda wg. Just use thunderstrike formation with combi plasmas and reroll failed to hit anyway. Frater Cornelius
Why bother with ulric for pa tda wg. Just use thunderstrike formation with combi plasmas and reroll failed to hit anyway. But not 1s to wound. Also, Ulrik has a bubble. That means all the other pods that arrived will benefit from it as well. And T2 the TWC too, once they charge and should Ulrik still live. The point is not for him to buff the plasmas, although it is still a major part, it is for him to drop down with another group of dudes and kick ass. You can still have Thunderstrike come down T2 around Ulrik if you want :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295441-ulrik-and-vehicles-as-dedicated-transports/#findComment-3877686 Share on other sites
