Commander_Moustache
So I was lookign through wikipedia for insperation and I noticed a peice on slat armour, and well, I was wondering if it would make an alternative to camo netting? I have only done one half atm as the glue takes forever to fully harden, but what do you guys think? http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s637/Wolf_Bain_Skyhunter/IMG_20140820_103409_zps2e6b83ea.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/ Share on other sites
scatmandoo
I think it has good potential. It would have a good chance if stopping some rounds/rockets getting through so fitting for a camo upgrade imo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3783791 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Agreed, it'd look good with some nice weathering and details on to show how it's taken hits and been jury rigged in the field. When the Enginseers are away the Guardsmen will play :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3783810 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
I like it, and it suits the Taurox's bulky profile IMO. Go one step further and magnetise it, and you have an easily removable Camo Netting upgrade! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3783943 Share on other sites
elmo
I always imagined it looking like the Mastiff http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/23248.aspx You can get a similar look by using thin plastic rods over a rectangular frame. The taurox may be salvageable yet ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3783968 Share on other sites

elmo
The wheels are what is slowly turning my hate of the taurox into a grudging "perhaps something can be done". It may yet turn up on a shopping list. All I need is someone who wants to buy the track units or maybe they could be converted into a Cyclops. elmo
A couple of links as a tease ;) Slat Armour 1 Slat Armour 2 Starts about half way down If I did a taurox slat armour system it would be nowhere near as elaborate or to scale , but then again when has GW ever had anything to scale ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3784389 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
I wonder if a mesh or grid in a frame would work as well? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3784430 Share on other sites
elmo
I was thinking of plasticard cut into strips as an option but mesh (or even that fly mesh stuff from hardware stores) may work or even a net stiffened with pva on a frame.... Cromwell models do actually make a 1:35 Mastiff that could be used as a counts as but they are apparently as hard to get hold of as live unicorns and a lot more expensive! Also, from what I have read, Cromwell has a bit of a poor customer relations/delivery history. WarriorFish
Enough to see it worked, it'll suddenly start coming together once you've primed it :) When do you expect to have it finished? I'm very interested in seeing how it looks once you've painted it up :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295487-slat-armour/#findComment-3785658 Share on other sites
