Newb airbrush question - air compressor/regulator issue

Hey all-

so I've just embarked in to the world of airbrushing.  First thing, I get everything out the boxes, read through the manuals etc, then start fitting things together and when I screw the regulator on tight to the air compressor it's upside down!  I can loosen it a touch to make it right-side-up but then it doesn't seal and slowly bleeds air.  Not a huge deal, but not something I think is usual.  Am I being thick, or is there a way to change the position of the nipple on the compressor?  The threads on the regulator are cut in to it so changing the position on the compressor seems to be my only option.  Can't tell if I can fix this or it's a manufacturing defect.  Any thoughts out there?

Many thanks for the help!

Cheers,

Hi, you need to use a thread sealer like a Teflon tape plumbers use. That way it will seal the thread and get it upright.

Count the number of turns you made now screwing it on and reconnect with the tape in between, just don't loosen it if you go to far as then it can leak again.

Revisiting this - gave it a good go, wrapped the hell out of the threads in Teflon tape.  Worked well for a day or so, but 'ol gravity took over and the regulator ended up falling over.

Any other thoughts?  I don't really want to tape the thing every day or so.  As well, can't really find any contact info for the manufacturer.  Hmm....

You may have put too much tape on, so it's not getting the last turn in. I only end up with maybe two or three wraps around, and then you can get it quite tight and it shouldn't budge. Too much tape and you're probably missing at least a full turn of tightening, if that makes sense
