Iron Hands at 1k (my first post too, aren't I special?)

Bolters, chainswords, assorted gentlemen, I bid you all hello! I've been lurking for ages and finally signed up to get some input on my various Heresy related works. Which I'm going to get straight down to before I ramble:

HQ

Castrmen Orth - 80

TROOPS
Legion Tactical Squad - 200
- 5 additional Space Marines
- Apothecary

Legion Siege Breacher Squad - 245
- 2 volkite chargers
- Power axe
- Apothecary
- Volkite charger (Apothecary)

ELITES
Contemptor Dreadnought Talon - 195
- Contemptor Dreadnought
- Multi-melta
- Plasma blaster

Apothecarion detachment - 100
- See above

HEAVY SUPPORT
Sicaran Battle Tank - 175
- Lascannon sponsons

995

I'll be honest here, I'm mainly just looking for commentary and thoughts rather than adjustments, as 1- the Breachers are non-negotiable, and 2- I know the Heresy at 1k is a really awkward army to plan out. But hey, I'm not adverse to criticism, so if I'm sucking all kinds of balls then let me know.

Cheeeeeers.

Glad you decided to make an account and join us.  The Heresy can always use more adherents.

Not much wrong with your list.  I think I've made my dislike of Breachers fairly well known (which you may have seen some of us in your lurking), but if their inclusion is non-negotiable for you then they are non-negotiable.  So that aside, my only two nitpicks would be the apothecaries and your Contemptor's weapons.  You're generally better off adding more guys to a minimum size squad than you are tacking an apothecary on - you could have 5 more guys in each squad for the points you're putting into those apothecaries, meaning 50% more wounds, melee attacks, and bolter rounds for you to play with instead of just 33% more durability from the FNP.

For the Contemptor, the multimelta is going to be of questionable use in 30k.  At 1k points, you'll probably be fine, not going to be too many Armored Ceramite Spartans running around at that points level, but going forward you'll probably start seeing ceramite on all the things you would want to fire that multimelta at.

For 15 points less you could have the ubiquitous twin-Kheres Contemptor-Mortis (or 10 points less for my favorite, the twin-TLLC Contemptor-Mortis).  If you want to stay with the face-punching style of Contemptor, then I would probably drop the Volkites from your Breacher squad (they aren't really that much of an improvement over bolters, all things considered) and use that plus your remaining 5 points to grab a Kheres instead of the MM.  That'd give you a little more versatility between anti-infantry and anti-tank, with the option of magnetizing and swapping the melee arm for a second Kheres later.  The Contemptor loadout is a minor point, though.

I had pondered a lot on the Apothecaries if I'm honest, mainly due to the inherent shooting resistance the Iron Hands are already getting. I've not bought/made those guys yet, so I can happily shift them out and make changes with those points.

The dread I'm happy enough to change the guns on now and then. I want to keep it as a punchy one for now, as in bigger lists (which are actually planned, just need criticisms) I've got a pair of TLLC Mortis Contemptors in as well.

And yeah, I've seen your name about a lot during my lurks (truth be told I based this list off a one you suggested to someone at one point), so I knew you'd not be a fan of the Breachers. But in this case, for me it's the rule of cool overriding gaming usage, and a reason/way to use the Immortals models.

As an aside, at 1k points, you could easily use this list in Zone Mortalis (a game mode where breachers fare much better) just by dropping the sicarian. This lets you take an apothecary and some rapier batteries or another Dread.

Also, welcome to the Heresy!
