Combi-Weapons for Terminators

Ok, maybe this belongs in another forum but I thought that since it dealt with wolf guard that I could post it here. I have seen some army lists that include WGT with combi weapons. What bits are used? I think normal combi weapons would look too weedy for termies. Any suggestions?

I modify their storm bolsters for a side-by-side rather than over-under. Meltas are simplest, requiring barrel mod and fuel canister only. For plasmas I shave down the side of a pistol and part of the storm bolter and combine the two. Haven't tried a flamer yet. Will get and post pics soon.

I've used several methods...

1. chop off the bolter barrel and place the ind of a plasma, flamer, or melta in its place(I pretend bolt and special weapon ammo can be shot from the same barrel)

2. Undersling a cut up special weapon under a bolter. (I typically place the magazine on the side of the bolter ala sten machine guns)

3. for termies I'll chop one of the bolter barrels and fit a special weapon piece in place. Cutting and filing so it looks like it really belongs(got this idea from another frater but can't remember their name :(  )

Currently I use the forge world caraphractii ones but I have a bunch of converted ones in my bits box. I cut out a cuboid chunk from one side of a storm bolter and glued most of a plasma pistol in there (after cutting off the handle and filing down one side). I also had to remove both storm bolter barrels and reapply a single one (from a bolter). For combi meltas I used blood angels infernus pistols. Had to fill some gaps with green stuff. There's a guide around somewhere detailing how to do it.

Edit: might have been the one on space wolves grey. Sorry, dumb browser isn't letting me paste in here.

Here you go

I am currently building my termies and trying to decide how to load them out, I have noticed in the army list section and other discussions that some of you are giving them combi weapons, I like the idea, but what combi weapons are you using? I think the normal SM combi weapon looks a littl etoo weedy for terminators?

A lot of people essentially replace one bolter barrel on the Strom Bolter with the special weapon muzzle of choice. Personally I think this doesn't really look right, but horses for courses and all that.

Personally, I'd go for the FW kits, either the Terminator special weapon sets (which admittdly don't offer the best value for money of you only want the combis), of the Tigrus pattern set, which are some of my favourite GW guns.

I have been reading some army lists, trying to get an idea of how to equip my shiny new termies. I have been reading that some people are equipping them with combi weapons, but my question is what combi weapons are you using? I think the normal combi weapons would look a  little weak in a terminators hands?

mostly converted. I think there is another thread going that discusses how this can be done. Otherwise a google search will find you some ideas (personally I use all combi plasmas, similar to those in the other thread).

In fact a quick search indicates you started that thread. Any reason you started another?

Nevermind, here is the guide I used:

http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/combi-plasma-conversion-guide.html

Hmm. Based on that guide if I wanted to base the combi on a storm bolter, if I wanted to make a combi-melta, I'd rather cut off the Storm Bolter barrels, add the pistol barrel and a melta barrel, and add a melta tank thingie to the side of the SB. Easier and not as destructive.

Still, I find it rather odd that there's no combis for terminators much. The Chaos Terminator box has some, dunno if some of the plastic HQ kits do, but that's about it. Of course prior to the new marine kits power armor combis were hard to come by too.

you mean like this:

Personally I just prefer combi plasmas but you're right it is a hell of a lot easier to make a combi melta

not a problem at all, there is a lot of traffic atm. I just remembered seeing a conversation and figured it had already been answered.

Personally I've always had a lot of success with combi-plasmas as they really make the most of that single shot if you are in rapid fire range. My combi-meltas always seem to fail to get the job done.

I disagree with you sunspear, and use the predesigned combi's. The ones from the Sternguard kit are actually a little thicker than the one's from the Marine Captain kit and IMHO look very nice on the end of a TDA arm.

Left to Right: Combi-Plasma from the Sternguard kit, Combi-Flamer from the newest Tactical kit and a Combi-Melta from the Sternguard kit.

I will say this about them however - They will cost you more money than kitbashing combi's out of special weapons and Storm Bolters.

End of Line

++Sunspear, you started three different posts asking the same question in the past two day.  I've now merged them all together, but please don't do that again.  If you lose your thread, look past the first page of the sub-forum, or click on the drop down menu at your profile in the very upper left corner of your webpage and click on the 'My Content' link.++
