irwit
Hi all So without copying and pasting rules, I will just say that from what I have read, our detachment special rule states that when we enter the board from deep strike reserve you can run and shoot in any order. Gate of Infinity also states that you leave and then re-enter the board from deepstrike reserve. So by all accounts we can do our shoot and run or run and shoot thing every time we jump? So Im wondering, are there any other ways of leaving the board and coming back in via deep strike reserve and also, whats the best way to make sure you get that power? I know Draigo has it but any other ways? Finally, lets say I ally Tiggy in, he has gate, would that mean that my grey knights could run and shoot but tiggy could only either run, OR shoot. I see this as being similar to a unit with a heavy weapon being able to move but the heavy weapon staying still and still being able to fire with full BS? BloodTzar
The "formation" works only with "models from codex: GK" On the other hand, if youyou don't like the social aspect of the game; you can do this (shoot-run vice versa) after DS in GoI considering RAW. Gentlemanloser
GoI uses the rule for "Deep Strike". You do not "Arrive from Deep Strike Reserves" that Rites of Teleportation require. Sadly, no run and gun after a Gate. Sorry, I completely don't understand your reply? My post way only talking about models from codex GK and I have no idea what any of this has to do with the social aspect of the game, its a rules question... Sadly, no run and gun after a Gate. Ok to quote what the internet is telling me the rule is for GoI, as no rule book to hand ... Effect : The Psyker and any attached unit are removed from the table and immediately re-enter the battlefield via the rules for Deep Strike reserves. A note that Zooming or Swooping units cannot be the targets for Gate of Infinity. The rule for our detachment states "in addition, all units from this detachment can both run and shoot, in any order, in the same turn they arrive from deep strike reserve" That seems to me pretty tight rules wise that you can run and shoot after GoI ? Gentlemanloser
That's incorrect. Gates rules are; "Gate of Infinity is a Blessing that targets the Psyker. Unless the target is zooming or swooping, remove the target and his unit from the board. It then immediately arrives anywhere on the board using the rules for Deep Strike". Reserves is not mentioned once in the rules for GoI. irwit
pffft! The internet has let me down, thought we had a gooden there :) Ok, so is deep strike and deepstrike reserve a different rule in the 7th rulebook then ? Its pretty annoying we have a cool ability that cant be abused :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295625-gate-of-infinity-and-our-deep-striking-special-rule-stack/#findComment-3786096 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Fourm ate my Edit to preempt that question. It's a can of worms. If you say they are the same thing, you hit two problems. First, you must start the unit in Reserves, otherwise it *cannot* use Gate at all; In order for a unit to Deep Strike <snip> the unit must start the game in Reserves Secondly, every time you use Gate, you are 'arriving' from Deep Strike Reserves and would trigger things like 'I've Been Expecting You' and any other shenanigans about a unit 'Deploying'. As the act of arriving from Reserves is Deployment. Edit: And you can only deploy once in a game. So I guess you might be able to use Gate only once. Can of worms.
