L30n1d4s
Also, Eversor assault out of a Land Raider has a 6" move + 6" disembark + 3D6" charge = 15-30" charge radius (average of 23") Not only is that good for counterassault, but even for PREEMPTIVE assault ;) (i.e. squad of TWC bearing down on you turn 1, getting ready for a turn 2 assault on your DZ... charge them first with the Eversor, causing multiple casualties and denying them the charge bonus). Toldavf
The Eversor is again a waste. Turning this around, how would you best use an Eversor if you had to take one? Oddly enough, I see it being very useful in a counter assault role for a gun line army. It should be able to kill or at least tarpit most fast moving assault threats. I'd agree with that inspite of lacking ap 2 he's still quiet potent at killing marines. I think he would be good for guard his ability to make a long charge mitigates the need for a transport somewhat. I'd use him to do what the army struggles with killing quickly assault marines, lictors, scouts, he can even finish off a monster with a 3+ save doing 1 or 2 wounds to it reliably. He's also good at managing those blobs if your willing to throw him under the bus. He's very good for his points. He's also massively outshone by the other 3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295696-assassins-in-your-tac-lists-what-and-how-many/page/3/#findComment-3811095 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
He's a CC unit, that for his points is outclassed by dedicated CC units. Why take him? If you want a CC unit, take a dedicated CC unit. Hell, if you have the Ally slot open, take a unit of DCA instead. Captain Idaho
Perhaps he's best used alongside a Land Raider assault force? He could hide behind it on the way in. He does have a powerful charge. Though I do feel you possibly could just get an Honour Guard squad for the points. Let's definitely see if we can find him a decent use though. I hate to be negative. knife&fork
The eversor is either overcosted by at least 30 pts or would need a bunch of additional special rules to be 'good'. As it is he's just way too punished by the game mechanics surrounding assault. T4 3W dies a little too easy to both high volume and high S. Why couldn't he be as awesome as he was in 2nd ed? :p A bonus attack for every engaged model would have been a cool and interesting mechanic. If you still want to use him he needs a delivery method, no question about it. So either a land raider, storm raven/storm wolf. Or why not have him man a quadgun in a bunker with escape hatches if you run a gunline and need counter charge? I was thinking the same thing, running behind a LR and then popping out from behind for a cuddly face hug with the enemy. Brother Navaer Solaq
I have an eversor assassin that i have not been able to field in awhile. Idaho's idea of running it with a LR sounds interesting. It will cost less than mephiston in a BA army. It might work. since we are talking about assassins. I was wondering if the eldar serpent shield can be used to down grade a vindicare's turbo shot? It might be a dumb question, but i wanted to be sure before fielding one. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. With no jink save, a Serpent may be forced to not fire that shield to minimize damage from that S10 shot. Brother Navaer Solaq
ok. it changes things for me because i cannot rely upon a vindicare to crack open wave serpents. I guess it is better to have higher volume of shots and/or cc the wave serpents. Damn eldar. Their transport ability is really annoying, but makes the game fun. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295696-assassins-in-your-tac-lists-what-and-how-many/page/3/#findComment-3821920 Share on other sites
