Commander_Moustache
So my heavy Mortars just arrived and I am wondering what sized base I need to put them on. I know the aircraft base is good for an earthshaker gun, but its too large for somethign half the size and an heavy weapons crew base is too small (but just the right size for a rapier destroyer battery) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/ Share on other sites
march10k
really, the heavy weapons crew/walker base is too small? I don't think they make another size... librisrouge
I hear ya, but I don't think they need bases. Thunderfires don't have any. Just make sure the crew do. Commander_Moustache
I only ask because the thudd gun (which I imagen is the same size) is mounted on a base in some pictures Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3788149 Share on other sites
Barbarov
And... bases look cool - they allow you to add an environment around the artillery piece more akin to a diorama, such as spent shells, ammunition boxes etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3788247 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Technically doesn't it only need a base if it comes with on? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3788282 Share on other sites
march10k
Er....sort of. My metal cadian autocannons didn't come with one, but I'm pretty sure I'd be cheating if I didn't mount them on one... Anyway, I think artillery, as opposed to heavy weapons teams, doesn't need a base. Isn't it true that the gun itself cannot be targeted? That it's only real role on the tabletop is the drawing of LOS, it's just removed if the crew are killed? If that's right, then no base needed...bases mainly just matter when the based model is being targeted... Commander_Moustache
Nope it is a seperate model. Hence why I want a base, so its easier to tell if its hit or not AND it give me somewhere to glue the shells. I think somethign the size of a dvd will do the job Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3789259 Share on other sites
march10k
Well, in that case, the flyer base Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3789685 Share on other sites
librisrouge
Or, since there is no official base, a dvd? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295711-artillery-bases/#findComment-3789743 Share on other sites

lionofjudah
I used flyer size bases for my thudd and heavy mortars... 5 crew for just fine in there:) The 60mm fit the rapiers just fine as well.
