faithonwings
Dear Forum members, I was wondering, with the new codex and all. Is it legal to put a lone wolve in TDA in a drop pod? how about 3 or 4 in the same drop pod? I'm not sure, tried finding the rules for it but could not find them anywhere. :( kind regards, John Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295756-lone-wolves-in-a-drop-pod/ Share on other sites
Dam13n
They are one model units. A transport can carry a single unit (plus attached independent characters). A Lone Wolf is not an independent character, nor can he be joined by one (the pack of one rule). Now you could put one in a Drop Pod purchased as a Fast Attack choice, but only one. For the Transport rules, you want page 80 of the BWB. The Transport Capacity sub-section tells you what a transport can carry. Valerian
You could put 3 Lone Wolves into 3 different Drop Pods purchased from your Fast Attack slots, but if they're in TDA, you might as well just Deep Strike them via Teleport. With just a single model, you ought to be able to find some terrain to do this safely, without too much risk of a scatter and mishap. He could just use the 3 FA slots to buy Pods with beacons to ensure precise deepstriking. Valerian
Or teleport in on Locator Beacons that came in with the first wave of Drop Pods that you've got other units, like Grey Hunters in. faithonwings
yes, but more drop pod means putting some in reserve, wich means at least a turn delay. i want to build an ín you'r face charge army with a turn 2 charge. Wolve cav. scyclaws, raider with blood claws. Force charts from Heroes of Fenris says at least two elites. zo I thought, why not drop pod 2-3 lone wolves in one drop in turn one. that would keep him ucupied. :D Need to think on this, if most of the lone wolves are turning up turn 2 or later, is it stil worth it? Disciple of Caliban Sgt
I would think if you are using Grey Hunters in a pod they would be a pretty perfect distraction/decoy unit. If you've got three equip one for anti infantry and one for anti tank and the other with a storm shield and whatever else you want and let hi be a pain in the butt and become a true hero of sagas. Turn one or two your pods come down so a turn two or three deepstrike of a single model is a perfect example of "hey deal with this." and if they don't from what I've seen and heard they will really not like what the Lone Wolf does to their units. Its not that they will destroy one of those turn one, and if they got in meltarange you know that you are in charge range than. I even got 1st turn charge this way, but that was because my opponent droppod 2 dreads in 1st turn (and 2 tacticals but they werent in charge range). Always puts a smile on me when Salamanders fail there Melta hits/pens.
