My experiences with the new GK codex so far...

2+/4++/FNP

Just a nitpick, Paladins don't have a 4+ invul

The reason people go for Terminators is they're nearly half the price now, and as you say fulfill Troops. Also, I wouldn't advocate getting a full 10-man unit either, I'd always go combat squads (it dilutes enemy AP2). Paladins also now pay the nemesis weapon tax, unless you keep them with just swords. You also need Draigo for positioning, and you still need a mandatory HQ+Troops (assuming Nemesis detachment). They end up being a heavy investment for a unit that still melts to Riptides etc.

Sorry mate, I meant pallies in the context of my list above, who get a 4++ because of Stern (if my inq rolls up forewarning, they get a 3++).

I think in general you are correct, but I dont really rate 5 man GK termy squads without either Stern to buff them to 4++ or Draigo to tank wounds. IMO they are slightly better than generic SM termies who are pretty lame.

So yeah, I agree with you, however I still believe pallies (as fielded in my list) are a legitimate deathstar, particularly if you dont like fielding dreadknights. I think we both can agree that a termy/dreadknight list is probably stronger though.

haha nice combo (especially with a couple of priests too!). It does lose a lot of shooting and some mobility though. And one of my regular opponents uses 2 of the new SW flyers, each with 2 TL multimeltas - he's been smashing raiders since their new book came out.

The lost shooting could probably be made up with more inquisitors with psycannons.

The downside is obviously a lower toughness,  less shooting however points wise...

6 crusaders = 90

4 DCA = 60

2 Priests = 50

So 200 points vs 300 with the Paladins?  Ace rerolls with the priest,   more wounds,  smaller base sizes,  loss of FnP.   I wonder how else you could get FnP? However instead of FnP in combat at least you get to reroll your 3++ or 2++ with the priest don't you so thats probably better than FnP?
