An Apology to A D-B

 Dear A D-B,

I attempted to send you a PM to apologize for my post in the Eternal Crusader thread but the system indicated you weren't taking messages so I'll have to post my apology here which is probably appropriate anyway as the offending post was public in the first place.

Please understand I am truly very, very sorry to have insulted you as that was never my intent. Both you and Mr.Haley are very talented writers whos work I have looked forward to reading in the past. And I realize that you've demonstrated your dedication to this hobby above even your peers by your participation in these forumns.

I also apparently failed to effectively convey my meaning as I don't see a conflict between what your view of fluff validity was and the guiding view of Mr. Gascoigne toward it. It was rather I saw a discrepency in the view you and MG expressed that everything was up neither true nor false and Mr.Haley's view that his writing was the new true. I guess given that it's all just science fiction, emphasis on fiction and none of it really true I won't worry about it anymore. I've made it way to clear that I don't like the direction the fluff story regarding BTs is going but from now on I shall just ignore the new stuff I don't like. They put down rabid dogs, it's a good thing they don't put down rabid gamers or I might have been in danger.

Again , I realize you don't have to accept my apology but I do feel very bad about insulting you as that was never my intent. 40K is supposed to be a hobby, a past-time that we can enjoy with our friends to give us an escape from everyday stuff and for those few very talented folks like you it becomes not just a hobby but a vocation. I'm sorry I insulted you and apologize for it to you and Mr.Haley even though he's probably not seen the post I'm apologizing for. To cause injury over something that's supposed to be an escape is wrong and for that I am profoundly sorry.

Again I'm sorry, there's probably good reason why even though I've been gaming for decades I post vey sparsely and should obviously make it even more sparingly. Sometimes there are moments when it would have been better if my fingers didn't work any better than my legs. I think it's time for this old gimp to roll his wheelchair away from the keyboard and  go find a good book possibly even something non 40k and just read for awhile.

I bid you peace,

PATemplar

You voiced an opinion which you can do.

But you can't be insulting or order people around.

Opinion: The Braves New Jerseys are not to my taste.

Insult: Whoever made the Braves new jerseys is an idiot.

Order: Change this jersey because I don't like it.

No need for an apology, dude. Great explanation; I see what you meant and I appreciate the clarity, but don't sweat it. And don't alter your posting habits, or anything. Conveying detailed stuff online can be a nightmare. We've all been there. Chalk it up to a misunderstanding.

Isn't you complaint that Eternal Crusader is inconsistent with prior BT lore? How did you insult Aaron?

Why would that complaint have insulted me? Let's not get into it here. There's another thread for that.

Yeah...but OP didn't order or insult

Firstly, there's another thread for this.

Secondly, I and several people did think a line was crossed, the specifics of which are available in the relevant thread. I realise you're trying to take a stand against perceived supplication and worship, but this isn't the right time for that fight. Let's not do quotes here. If you can't see it in the other thread, then so be it. I, and other people, did. It doesn't matter, either way. I didn't expect an apology (it wasn't necessary, but was cool all the same), and PATemplar's additional clarity was useful and informative.

I suggest a thread-lock.
