NDK as Warlord....

Great now I need some hammers/swords to put on my 3 fist wielding NDKs :(

If you have a three fist dreadknight, it would seem to me that he needs some beard instead of hammers and swords. Where else is he going to put that third first?

I actually just made an adepta sororitas list with a canoness and crowe (he can ride in a rhino!) as m HQ options and totally going with the NDK warlord.

According to the 7th Ed rulebook:

pg124

If your Warlord is a character model, then he has one Warlord Trait. Note that if you have had to pick a non-character model as your Warlord, then it does not receive a Warlord Trait, but counts as a Warlord for all other rules purpose

Sorry to ruin everyones day.

According to Codex: Grey Knights the Nemesis Dreadknight is classified as a "Monsterous Creature Character".

Sorry to ruin your day. :(

If you wanted, a Justicar could be a warlord. If it can be challenged, it can lead your army.

Why is a monstrous creature(character) any different from a infantry(character)?

That section you have copied says if the unit entry has character then that can be your warlord. If for any reason you do not have any characters (basically Unbound armies) then another model can be ypur warlord minus trait.

Ndk has character in its unit type so fulfils the requirement of being a character.

Tyranids can easily run complete characterless armies; for fun once I ran a single hormagaunt as my warlord in a unit of 30 amongst 5 other units of 30.

My account is new and I don't like you. I mean you have loser in your name...

How cool could you be? :)

I played my NDK as a warlord this last weekend... was so amazing...

i was lucky and got the Immovable object personal trait.

My opponent didn't believe me that my NDK would be my Warlord, but, after reading the rules it was so clear...

Lucky to me, i made a modification to one of my NDKs, so it was easily identified.

Knight in a loin cloth..... BRILLIANT!

Before I clicked the link I thought he was gonna have a crown on his head.

Make sure you put one on his backside so he's not mooning everyone.

3 as in I have 3 NDKs that need weapons not 3 as in I have a NDK with three fists. I never needed the weapon upgrades on my NDKs so I never gave them one. With the loss of force on our basic weapon I need to add weapons to my 3 NDKs. Rurik I'm so stealing that idea for my Warlord.

Brilliant idea :) consider it stolen lol :)

Quick question though (as I don't have 7th ed rulebook yet) does it say that HQ characters automatically take precedence over characters from other slots when it comes to warlording?

I.e. Can I still take my grand master and have my NDK as the warlord?

Uh, first let me say that the last few weeks have been like *fizzle* in the 40k department around here, so many of my gaming group have had life intercede. Second, I didn't catch the NDK as a warlord from the BRB stand point and have to say "Holy Crap, this makes me very happy!" Thanks for pointing it out so much. I had started assembly of my 4th one and now will do it up with this purpose in mind. Again many, many thanks for pointing this out.

@Toomanyprojects

Any Character can be the Warlord. Must have Character in the unit description is the only requirement.

Happy to help Dread

Actually, in the absence of a character model (think unbound), any model can be a warlord. Characters are the only ones that get the added bonus of a warlord trait! :D

I was teasing a bit with the 3-fisted Dreadknight with a beard-fist. It was very early in the AM and I was at the tail end of a 12 hour shift, so I was poking a little fun.
