I know you can make stupid 6 model lists with BF as well. But most people collect a faction (as in a fully fleshed out army, at least we were until recently...), and like to play that faction, maybe with a dash of Allies.

Also, I know you're not being serious, because you can't take an army like that to a competitive level. Hell, your local Tau or Eldar play can probably table you without even taking their best build against it.

Thing is RD, a couple of your most recent posts is about us not needing/using Objective Secured, and having to take units lke AA/Centurion/Thunderhammers from Marines.

Which is kinda the point with Unbound.

It seems like you want to play Unbound, and even feel it's the best way for us GK to roll (which I totally agree with), but have an inbuilt bias towards it you can't shed.

Come out of the closet!  Join us in Unbound Pride! :D

;)

The minute I okay Unbound, I open the Apoc can of worms. I'd like people to pretend to take a balanced force, its why we avoid playing 'Purge' in our gaming group (as its completely boring).

The reason I'm so meh about OS is because we cannot do attrition anymore. Henchmen allowed us to have some staying power, but their removal as a core Troops choice is a huge hit. Purifiers likewise can no longer function as a ground force, due to the changes to psycannons, 'Cleansing Flame' and their price hike (plus WC2 puts a giant target on their heads). The bonuses from the NS to our Deepstrike theme, plus its 1 Troops requirement is in my mind more of an advantage that sticking with CAD.

RD, Henchmen were never a core Troop choice. They were Elites that you spammed as Troops because everyone took Coteaz. That's not a core choice. Our core Troop choice has been GKT and Strikes since 5th, and just PAGK since 3rd. At the moment, one can even say GKT are our only core Troop choice in 7th, due to the general inefficiency of PAGK in this Edition.

At best, Henchmen were a crutch GK players used to spam point efficient units, which can still be done in Codex: Coteaz. I hated that the weakest units in the previous GK codex were GKs. Yes, it sucks for some that their army name changed from "Grey Knights" to "Inquisition", yet I find it liberating to be able to play my actual army without the "no Coteaz? Thought he was auto-include" statements I always got.

On the topic, I concur with you OS. Its a nifty feature, but not a game breakers. 7th Ed 40k is now a board game closer to Life or Monopoly than any table top war game should be, and its oh-too-random nature really does rob us players of any need to conform to an Objective Secured mind set. Oh? An OS unit is contesting my objective? Guess I'll just kill it while I draw a stupid card that will win or lose the game for me. /wrists

No, I'm definitely in the camp that the Nemesis Strike Force is a huge benefit for us, becaus it breaks us out of the bland play style CADs and multi-formations are bringng to the table.

What can of worms?

Facing multiple Super Heavies? Hi Knights. msn-wink.gif

Multiple Detachments and Formation can be bought in a 'core' game using Battle Forged anyway.

What mechanical difference does Unbound open?

Edit: Multiple 'Lords of War'? Bring both a NSF with Draigo and the new Wolf one with Logan. And a CAD from someone else (IG with a Baneblade maybe). Three LoW in a 'core' match.
