Few things first, that might not be obvious / I don't know if your aware of it :

1) 30k is all about large squads (which you did with the Tacs) so, while base squads start expensive, each additional unit is relatively cheap. To that end, maybe fuse the 2 Pyroclast Squads and free up some points on upgrades, maybe try getting them a transport if you can. They're very expensive and are limited to their template weapons. Would be a shame to see them erased off the table before they ever go into range to fight back.

2) At 2500, your likely to run into lists that make use of Storm Eagles / Fire Raptors (I should know I made an RG list at 2.5k that had ~4-5 of them) but your lack anti-air. True the Las-Cannon mortis will do the job, but he is just one model and contemptors are big fire magnets because of what they bring.

3) Do you think 2 Laser Destroyer shots outweigh 4 Twin Linked Lascannon shots (both are free on a Spartan)? If not then reconsider since in a pinch the Spartan could serve as anti-air (I think thats possible).

4) Melta Weapons are generally not worth it. With the prevalence of Armored Ceramite (negates the melta special rule), your usually better off using non-melta solutions. In this regard, think about changing the loadout on the Contemptor. Maybe make him a Kheres Contemptor-Mortis. It'll add volume of fire and another anti-air solution.

5) While Sicarian Venators are good anti-tank solutions, do you expect to go up against list (at sub 3k) that require the dedicated fire of 2 of them to neutralize threats? If not, consider the standard Sicarian. Since it can negate Jink saves and has a load of shots, could serve as yet another anti-tank / anti-flyer redundancy layer so you don't get caught with your pants down.

6) Almost didn't see this, but consider getting another weapon besides a lightning claw on your Preator. With the Storm Shield, he won't be getting an extra attack so try for something that hits harder IE : thunderhammer or Paragon Blade.

This is what I came up with, might not be your cup of tea, maybe not even what your looking for, but I think it adds more survivability to your list :

This comes out to 2500 flush.

I've taken abit of your suggestions and i've come up with a, what i think, significantly different list. Is it better? Im not sure. But it is more themed i think. I've got with a slogging list this time, a larger number of bodies marching though everything in their way, backed up by some armored assets that play a more up close role then to be rolling boxes.

Praetor: 185
Terminator Armor, Master Crafted Paragon Blade, Dragon Scale Storm Shield, Mantle of the elder drake.  Covenant of Fire.

Centurion: 120
Terminator Armor, Librarian, Level 2

FireDrakes: 500
8, 3x Storm Shields, 4x Thunder Hammers, MC Thunder Hammer, Heavy Flamer

Apothecarion: 90
2 Legion Apothicarys

Tactical Squad: 275
20, Master Crafted power weapon, Artificer Armor

Tactical Squad: 275
20, Master Crafted Power weapon, Artificer Armor

Tactical Support Squad: 165
7, 7x Volkite

Tactical Support squad: 165
7, 7x Volkite

Contemptor Mortis: 180
Kheres Assault Cannons

Tarantula Sentry Gun Battery: 150
3, 3x Airdefence missile launcher

Sicaran Venator: 210
Armored Ceramite

Preadator Squadron: 180
2 Tanks, 2x Flamestorm Cannons,

While footslogging in lager points games leaves you vulnerable to massed template fire, seeing as this is more of a themed fluffy list, I'm willing to accept it since really, if you're having fun, who am I to judge :p

For the Volkites, have you considered using heavy support squads (unless the slots are filled, in which case, the tac support are fine) and using Culverins? They're longer range and a bit more powerful so might have an easier time providing adequate fire support for the footsloggers as well as be used for backfield objective capping. But, if you don't think you can squeeze enough culverins in to make it worth the investment, I'd keep the squads as they are.

Only other thing that I'm unsure about is the Tarantulas. I'm not familiar with their rules so forgive me if I'm wrong, but : Would it be possible for you to get lascannons on them? Either by dropping one to equip the other 2 with them? It would be a bit more versatile in its usage since it'd be able to deal with ground and air targets(if it can). Unless the airdefence lets you adequately shoot at ground targets.

Beyond those 2 things which are really minor problems in my eyes, list looks good and can work.

I've always had fun when I play with themed fluff list. Isstvan survivors banded together hunting down the traitor legions with what they have avalable to them.

With the volkites I'm locked into the tac support squads with the use of my rite, I need the troop slots to have access to the heavy/fast attack units that I'm bringing along.

If I switched the tarantulas to lascannons then I would loose the interceptor/sky-fire set up that the missile set up is equipped with. I may concider swapping the contempter to lascannons, that I haven't fully decided upon.
