Hammer Bits

So it seems like running 2 hammers in a 5-man TDA unit might be a desirable idea.  Problem is, the terminator box only comes with one hammer for five guys.  I figure I'm not the first person to run into this situation, so I ask...

What hammer bits have you used to kit-out your terminators?

A quick search of ebay listings shows me that there are a lot of listings for vanguard veteran hammers, which seem like they'd do the job, but I'm concerned that they look like they're scaled for power armor, and that they might look too small and unimpressive in the grip of the mighty terminators.  Anyone have experience with these?

There are also a few listings for the whole arm with hammer from the vanilla space marine terminator kits.  Has anyone used these with their Grey Knight terminators?  Are there any problems getting these to fit?  Can I just pop the Grey Knight shoulderpads on these and glue everything together without having to carve them all up?  I haven't assembled vanilla terminators since they were still metal, so I'm kind of out of the loop on what bits swap easily.

Any other bits that anyone else has used?  I know a guy that used a dreadknight hammer for his space wolf hero, but that just seems a little over-the-top.

Chaos hammers/modded mauls? If your weapon breaks down, the enemy's is often the next closest to hand....

(The weapon of course will be purged at the end of the engagement.)

What do you take us for, Ultramarines? Crowe notwithstanding, Grey Knights don't usually make a habit of wielding relics taken from Chaos Marines :p

As far as I'm aware this is a recast site... BUT I am a firm believer that these site are acceptable when you're just picking up bits and bobs for conversions/spare/missing parts

Because let's be honest... If we all had access to a 3D printer, we'd all just make our spare parts. So I don't see how using such sites is that bad so don't try and take the morale high ground! Remember that GW are making us pay full price for less than half of a codex ;-p

Chaos hammers? Heresy. Just - no.

Moral questionability of recasters aside, I'm not fond of the idea of using resin bits for hammers due to the long, slender handles. Those would break continually. No thanks. I love for my models to look good, but they need to be robust enough to handle me handling them.

As for using the hammers from my PA kits - I'm already using the ones I have. One hammer per 5 guys, always. May end up with some spares further down the line when I start making spare guys for alternate squad weapon options. We'll see.

For now, I got four of the vanguard vet hammers off eBay pretty cheap. I'll find out in a few days or so whether they'll end up doing the job. Might try using the halberd handle suggestion on them if I end up thinking they're too weedy, but I'm thinking I might be okay with the look of a more compact, closely held hammer.
