sombreromaster
So I have been playing 4ok, for a few years now and have always had my eyes on SW. When my buddy decided he wanted to get back into orks, we had to get it. So my main question is should i kit these guys out like they are in the mission booklet? Or just do my own thing. I wouldnt mind kiting them out as described because it comes to an even 600 i think, also i think he is kitting his out of the book as well. Plus, i am going to expand anyway and use those models for different set ups. Any thought or ideas would be greatly appreaciated. thanks! Kasper_Hawser
For Blood claws, Grey Hunter and Terminators, yeah, you should go ahead and do as per the Stormclaw missions. All of them are useful and likely you will use them again when designing your future lists. For Krom Dragongaze though, I suggest you hold the parts to make your own Space Wolf character, as those bitz are really sweet and Krom isn't that great a character due to being non eternal warrior. The sweet armour bitz of Krom can easily pass for Runic armour for any wolf lord, wolf guard battle leader, even Wolf priest and rune priest. Just model according to how you want you future wolf lord to be using Space Wolves or Champions codex, then proxy as Krom when you play the missions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295892-just-got-the-sw-and-orks-box-set/#findComment-3791811 Share on other sites
Vash113
I would not build them exactly as the mission booklet describes, I also would not recommend building a 5 man Grey Hunter and a 5 man Blood Claw unit. I would recommend getting a unit of Tactical Marines to mix with the Space Wolf Power Armor kit and I'd suggest building two packs of Grey Hunters. As for the Terminators their equipment can be made to fit a variety of roles, the suggested loadout in the Stormclaw books is not the most efficient setup. With the parts available you can kit 4 with TH and SS or with Twin Wolf Claws, a power sword and axe with storm bolters, a couple chainfists, heavy flamer and assault cannon. It's up to you to decide what you want the unit to do, if you want survivability I'd suggest four Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield Terminators and the fifth with either the Assault Cannon or Heavy Flamer paired with a chainfist, for all out damage in assault go with four twin claw Terminators backed up by a Heavy Flamer and Chainfist armed Terminator. Or you can always go for a mix, two with power weapons and storm bolters to keep them cheap, two with Thunder Hammers or Wolf Claws and Storm Shields and the fifth with a heavy weapon and chainfist. DanPesci
magentise your terminators. Seriosuly, its easy enough to do, especially with the larger arms of terminators, and well worth it in the long run when there are so many options for our TDA loadout. Squark
I'd do 10 Blood Claws with a Powerfist and a Wolf Guard Pack leader with a Power sword (If you have a flamer from elsewhere, use it as well) or 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasmaguns (No close combat weapons). Another vote for magnetizing the Terminators- They have a lot of different loadouts, and picking the right one this early in army building and would require a psychic. I'd also hold off on assembling Krom until you have more bits and can decide what sort of HQ you want (Krom himself is awful, but the model is great for conversions) A couple of builds for the terminators, if you're curious; -5 pairs of wolf claws for the Void Claws formation (Requires Champions of Fenris. -4 combi-plasmas and an assault cannon, all with power weapons (requires conversions for both the guns and to get more power weapons). MalachiOfRuss
I magnetize all my Terminator arms with 1/8" magnets. I've also matched the polarity so any left arm will work for any model, and same for the right arms. It's well worth the effort IMO.
