Zeratil
So my preferred way of running Grey Knights (Mechanised with Raven air support) has taken quite a hit with the new codex so I've decided to re-consider how I run them. I'm thinking of constructing a combined Minotaur/Grey Knight/Assassin force, something the High Lords of Terra would send after a Chapter gone renegade (stole the idea from IA12...) So what sort of combination do you guys think would be good? I'm not particularly fussed which out of GK or SM is the primary detachment. My initial thoughts were using the new GK detachment with SM drop pods and a Callidus for a very in your face sort of list, or maybe putting Brother Captain Stern in with Moloc and some assault terminators for sanctuary... BladeGaurd
Other then psy bolt rounds I do not see where a mechanized army has taken a hit, and those where to cheep on crusader and loved by dreadnoughts. I believe a mechanized list still works well depending on how it is mechanized. Zeratil
It's not necessarily a power thing, although the loss of psybolts, more expensive razorbacks, less effective strike squads, cheaper terminators, less effective LRCs and Storm Ravens all hurt, I've lost the passion for that kind of list and want to try something a little different Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295916-wrath-of-the-highlords/#findComment-3792495 Share on other sites
BladeGaurd
Loss of passion, I can understand that a lot better that why my eldar are on the shelf. I would do Minotaur primary and Grey Knights as a intervention force. Not sure much about the Minotaur combat doctrine other then they are executioner esk. Take the Achilles Land Raider, it looks awesome. I also try them segregated units/make up but working off of each other. Ishagu
The Stormraven is more effective in basic damage output against most units.. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295916-wrath-of-the-highlords/#findComment-3792730 Share on other sites
Reckling
GK Mech is finished. Loss of psybolts, Loss of psychic pilot (read sanctuary - hilariously strong coupled with DA Power Field Generators), Upcosting/acccessability (henchmen gone), Psyfles nerfed,SR utility removed ...cmon guys, are you really arguing this point? Its incredibly demoralizing to see the number of nerfs this list took, and i completely sympathize with anyone that was running it. Moving forward, our alpha strike capacity has gone through the roof and with SM allies you can pull shenanigans like librarian/draigo with centurions using gate of infinity. SM also fill several holes that standard GK infantry have (namely anti AV - sternguard in a pod). It really depends on the flavour of your strike force and the units you want to take. And of course the points limit your playing (anything under 1500 makes running allies quite lean). Reclusiarch Darius
You could run a primary list of Minotaurs (they have pretty cool Chapter Tactics and special characters), then ally Knights and an Assassin or three (probably Culexus, given how broken he is). Hell, bring a Nemesis Strikeforce as the Knight detachment and use your Bikers to seed the front lines with teleport homers to land the Knights safely in enemy lines. Culexus doesn't need much help, he's very hard to gun down at range, and in melee he's insanely dangerous to everything.
