Transgressor O'Malley
How's this looking for 2000 points of Iron Warriors? Any comments/criticisms/suggestions appreciated. It's intended to be a take-all-comers list for both 30k and 40k (my group all plays 40k but is cool with me using 30k lists, and I think the 30k list much better represents 40k Iron Warriors than the CSM codex does). I want to keep it fluffy while also being competitive. Slips
Looks good, and since you said you'll be playing 40k armies more than anything, multi-meltas are fine since you shouldnt run into any armored ceramite. Can't really complain much besides maybe a lack of anti-air? But then again, these are guys you play regularly (?) with so you should know what to expect. I might replace the speeders and a predator with a fire raptor, that would give me another 70 points to throw around. Might throw in a cheap divination librarian to buff the infantry; I can find another few points for him somewhere. Are librarians unfluffy for IW, though? Slips
Hmmm...honestly...I think they might fit..but I wouldn't truly be able to say. In terms of replacing your speeders, why not Contemptors? They rather fit the IW theme (especially since there's an IW Contemptor on the way) and they're versatile enough that they can be : Dedicated melee powerhouses, half melee half range or ranged fire-support (mortis). Though they are pricey and gives you less leeway in points. BTW: does the RoW restrict the number of consuls you can bring? If not consider a Master of Signal. They're one of - if not THE - most cost-effective consuls out there. Thats +1 BS is a nice buff especially for gunlines. The dual Kheres assault cannon option does look very nice, and it would be decent AA if it stood still. Regarding consuls, nope, the restrictions are just that I must have either a warsmith praetor or siege breaker consul, an additional compulsory troops choice, and more heavy support than fast attack. In return I get an extra heavy support slot, free extra armour on all tanks and walkers, and everything can charge after rapid firing (as long as they didn't use fury of the legion). Slips
Well then... Master Of Signal is a VERY good choice for you or at least something you should strongly consider. Since that +1 BS can apply to anything with a BS profile so...even a contemptor and even a tank...let that sink in haha. MoS are also the cheapest Consul Type (I believe) so thats a nice bonus since he wont set you back 100+ points Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295981-the-hammer-of-olympia-2000-points/#findComment-3793838 Share on other sites

He'd have to sit at the back rather than advancing with the infantry and contemptor, so it'd be a big points sink for not really that much benefit. Unless I want to use him for BS5 bolters...but nah. Turns out if I add a dual Kheres contemptor-mortis and subtract the speeders and one tactical marine, it brings it back to an even 2000, so I reckon I'll go for that. Thanks for the input and if you or anyone else has anything more to add, please do! Slips
Glad to have been of some help! Good luck with the Heresy!..And spread the word..LordThrone knows we need more 30k Legions Edit: as and Aside, heres a Silly little thing you can do with Imperial Fists Legions : LA:IF gives +1BS to firing with Bolters. Seeker squads have BS5. So, with Combi-Bolters and firing the Bolter Part of the gun, they shoot at BS 6. Now add onto that a MoS for BS7 and to make them a bigger pain, a Primus Medicae (FNP) with a Combi-Bolter too (consuls have BS5 and get LA:IF). Voila. At most a squad of 11 (since MoS wont be shooting) firing at BS7 with the option of firing at BS6 with the combi part if needed. I considered going LA:IF, but I don't like the IF aesthetic at all and I'm not really into the fluff either. I find IW the most appealing fluff-wise, the aesthetic is pretty cool too, and never having to take morale from shooting and being able to charge after firing bolters is awesome. So, IW it is! Slips
Indeed, you've made a good choice...Rival *glare*... But if you ever want to take part in the HH forums proper, you can ask 1000Heathens all the IW questions you want; he's got them in his blood...I think literally O_o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295981-the-hammer-of-olympia-2000-points/#findComment-3793877 Share on other sites
Transgressor O'Malley
I'm not sure why, but all the legions I find appealing are traitors. Iron Warriors, Death Guard, Alpha Legion, Thousand Sons, in that order. Maybe that says something. depthcharge12
Why no Tyrant Terminators? :P I think a good strategy would be to take a plasma support squad as you could (but probably shouldn't lol) double tap with plasma then charge in to finish the squad off :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295981-the-hammer-of-olympia-2000-points/#findComment-3793889 Share on other sites

I think a good strategy would be to take a plasma support squad as you could (but probably shouldn't lol) double tap with plasma then charge in to finish the squad off I love the tyrant terminators, but they're too damn expensive points-wise! 50 each with a sergeant tax of 45 for a total of 295 for 5. I'd rather have roughly three predators. The plasma death squad would be entertaining vs Tau. I'd love to put them in a drop pod! Shame I can't without going full drop pod... Edit: Also the rite change would mean they couldn't charge afterwards. Nehekhare
my advice: do not use the hammer of olympia RoW you gain 1 bolter shot, but you loose an attack (or even all atacks if you don't make it into assault because your shots killed the first row) you gain a HS slot, but you do not use it anyway (3rd pred could just as well stay in a squadron with the other 2). get a medusa instead for added range and strength. you have to take another tac squad that costs a lot and doesn't do much (without extra hand weapons, a dedicated assault unit will wipe them). you give the enemy 1 extra VP for killing your 2+/4++ warlord (warsmith). I second the MoS centurion - put him with your havocs on a bastion with ammo dump. ironically, your iron warriors can't do much against fortifications (AV14/15). give everyone meltabombs to make use of their legion special rules.
