Stencils

So I had an idea the other day when my wife was doing some craft stuff using her Silhouette machine. Its essentially a printer that cuts out a design that you put into the software. You can cut designs out of all kinds of materials.  I was curious if anyone has considered doing a stencil for Chapter symbols using something similar.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but you would have to find out if the machine can handle such small forms. The brass etched stuff forgeworld and others sell is essentially the same thing.

You can do this, works fine for vehicles and such things, but with some search you will find the most time some cheap stencils to buy.

I draw the outlines of chapter badges, honour markings, banners, etc. using a black 2.0 stencil straight on the miniatures. It makes it much easier to get great results. I recommend people try it if they are having troubles painting freehand icons.

If you can get your design cut small enough, yeah! I've heard most craft cutters don't have anywhere near the detail level needed. If you're lucky and your chap symbol is something rather common, there are a bunch of airbrush stencil companies (I really like Anarchy) that make good, moderately reusable sheets.
