The Rose Princes Posted September 1, 2014 Share Posted September 1, 2014 So I'm thinking of running a unit of 3 bike mounted HQ's each joined together as a single unit, but I'm trying to decide which way to go. See, the rest of my army is TWC mounted in the Champions of Fenris Force Organization Chart, but in doing so I cannot get Rune nor Wolf Priests in my lists, and they kind of do weird things with the rules when attached to Cavalry and/or Beasts, so I'm going to run them separately. My real questions are about the survivability of such unit builds. Firstly, Rune Priests: the obvious benefit is psyker powers, but from there, what would I use them for? Having 3-6 points of mastery on bikes gives me massive maneuverability but to what end? Do I make them support, my mobile shooting platform; really won't need more melee offensive, but they could fill that role too. Then comes survivability and point expenditures. Do want to make them all level 2 and belt of Russ AND Relics with price of a bike? Do I want to leave them as level 1 and naked as a cheap distraction with overlapping Primass powers? Secondly, Wolf Priests: with the changes to these guys in the new book, a mix of Preferred Enemy for all occasions is nice (can Vehicle or Flyer be a type?), and fearless is nothing to scoff at, but it's like there's nothing really there. 6+ GBP just does not thrill me and everyone will be Stubborn thanks to Herald, it's just nothing I couldn't get with a Lord/Battle Leader build. My army is very melee heavy, so specialized melee character is kind of lost in the shuffle.... unless there's something I'm missing? Also, as I don't use bike at all really, so if there is an obvious bike tactic I'm missing please inform me. So it comes down to this vote: 3 Rune Bikes 3 Wolf Bikes A mix of the two One of each AND a Battle Leader on Bikes Stick with 3 TWM Battle Leaders spread throughout the army like you do now. I'm already gonna run 8 Iron Priests that's not an issue. Besides, they are Elites. But not using anything not mounted, so no WG. Nadir Posted September 3, 2014 Share Posted September 3, 2014 Can an Iron Priest repair a drop pod and make ot fly again? ;) WGBL is cheap and can be realy nasty. For a support role a 2lvl mage on the bike. Or in the drop pod army- just Ulric. Cheap and effective.
